La figura del vampiro en la literatura aparece representada en diversas formas y géneros y durante miles de años se ha ido adaptando a las necesidades específicas de la pluma de quien le da “vida” plasmándolo por escrito. Con la publicación del Drácula (1897) de Bram Stoker, la figura del vampiro se popularizó, apareciendo desde entonces en obras de la literatura, películas y televisión a lo largo de los siglos XX y XXI. La obra narrativa de Vicente Risco cuenta hoy con general reconocimiento, aunque no tanto aquella relacionada con la fantasy. Dentro de esta modalidad, existe una obra juvenil suya que ha pasado prácticamente desapercibida: su primer cuento, titulado “El tesoro de Kolirán”. Para subsanar esta omisión en las ediciones y estudios sobre el autor, se edita aquí ese cuento, cuyo interés literario se argumenta a partir del análisis de la manera en que transmite su significado simbólico, como apología indirecta del valor del individuo artista, como místico de la belleza, frente a la superficialidad de la masa. Abstract

The battle against machismo in favor of equality is currently the order of the day. Society is more cognizant that men and women must have equal rights and responsibilities, and while we still have a long way to go, we are gradually gaining the equality that the majority want. Four hundred years ago, however, this was not the case. When El burlador de Sevilla was first published in 1630, gender roles were considerably more clearly defined. Places Beyond Memory: The Affective Landscapes Of Bernardo Atxaga's Días De Nevada, Mark Pleiss

BOGA: Basque Studies Consortium Journal

This study highlights a heretofore-unexplored narrative device in Bernardo Atxaga’s fiction by highlighting how the author’s representation of spaces surrounding Reno and the Great Basin in Días de Nevada models what Berberich et al. (2016) call affective landscapes. The approach contributes to, and looks beyond, the traditional focus on memory in criticism of Atxaga, and it illustrates the story’s engagement with the emotional experiences of populations in the North American West that are not explored or rarely treated in the author’s other works. This article compares Agnès Agboton’s memoirs Más allá del mar de arena: Una mujer africana en España (‘Beyond the Sea of Sand: An African Woman in Spain,’ 2005) to Najat El Hachmi’s novel, La filla estrangera (‘The Foreign Daughter,’ 2015) to illustrate how these seemingly dissimilar works serve to make space for their author’s first languages in peninsular letters. Applying Rebecca Walkowitz’s conception of born-translated literature to the case of these Spanish and Catalan texts, it argues that the migratory tales of these two women writers constitute a contribution to the Global Hispanaphone.
