El Jardí Dels Set Crepuscles, La Intelectualización De La Ficción Especulativa En La Literatura Catalana De Los Años Ochenta, Miguel A. Albújar Escuredo

En este ensayo se explica cómo Miquel de Palol, con la publicación del Jardí dels set crepuscles (1989), culmina la evolución de la novelística popular catalana de la década de los setenta y ochenta. La novela a partir de elementos narratológicos y simbólicos queda intelectualizada al situar el escenario en un ambiente de ficción especulativa pos apocalíptico. Finalmente, se ofrece una interpretación novedosa bajo la figura de un narrador “loco” que justifica ese carácter intelectualizante del Jardí.

This thesis studies the evolution, ideology and use of the myth of La Llorona through time in the Hispanic World. Considering this myth as one of the most known traditional narratives of the American continent, I begin by providing visual, ethnohistorical and ethnographical insights of weeping in Mesoamerica and South America and the specific mention of a weeping woman in some Spanish chronicles to say how western values were stablished in “the new continent” through this legend. Several of Vicente Aleixandre's Poemas de la consumación (1968) incorporate elements from his earlier work and allusions to it. This article studies the ways in which the poet develops these elements and allusions to lend intertextual dimensions to the book.

When Cervantes publishes his collection of Novelas Ejemplares in 1613, he introduces a type of composition that lacked academic prestige and was not in any way regulated. Although Italian and Spanish writers had already dabbled with brief narrative fictions, it is the author of El Quijote who pushes the new genre in which he skillfully articulates the literary traditions. The success of his collection is immediate; numerous editions of his novellas in various Spanish cities are testimony of the bases which the author was setting, and he rapidly begins to be imitated. The exile of Manuel Altolaguirre, poet of the Generation of ‘27, touches on Spanish and Latin American literature and culture. The article examines the attitudes and beliefs of the avant-garde from the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera and the Second Republic through the Spanish Civil War and into exile. Using Altolaguirre’s experiences in Cuba and Mexico, the article discusses exile literature and the dislocations of Spanish refugees struggling to make a living on the fly and feeling further isolated and forgotten in the upheavals of the Second World War.

This essay is a supplement for Imatataj tata intiqa rikun? or What Does Papa Sun See? in English. The essay explains the methodology used to collect data and write this children’s book. The investigation focuses on lexical borrows from Spanish to Cochabambino Quechua. Using a drawing of a farm, these borrowed words are found in an area, agriculture, which existed before the Spanish arrived. Many borrowings replace historic words of Quechua. The essay and book recognize that language can change and does not judge the ways that Quechua has changed. The investigation concludes that there are many borrowed words, but …

My dissertation explores the narrative of Aurora Bertrana (1892-1974), an unknown writer today, but a successful and recognized female author in Catalonia and Spain during the mid 20^th century. The written work of Aurora Bertrana is almost never mentioned in manuals of literature. Relegated almost to absolute oblivion, her rich, intellectual writting has not received the attention it deserves.
