En este artículo se analiza cómo en El bandido doblemente armado de Soledad Puétolas se hace un tributo a El largo adiós de Raymond Chandler.

Marlowe aparecía en El largo adiós como el verdadero protagonista que nos muestra su visión de la realidad más que nunca, permitiéndonos un mayor conocimiento de su interior. Del mismo modo, el narrador de El bandido doblemente armado, consigue una identidad propia al hacer que los encuentros y desencuetros con los otros personajes trasciendan.

Arroz y tartana, escrita en 1894, ejemplifica las consecuencias graves de abandonar los valores burgueses de trabajo y economía para guardar apariencias con excesos de gasto y consumo. El director José Antonio Escrivá llevó la obra a la pantalla en el año 2003, y Enric Murillo compuso la música original. Los temas, coordinados con las imágenes y el diálogo, constituyen un lenguaje no verbal para comunicarle información al espectador. Funcionando en conjunto dentro del sistema de leitmotifs, los temas establecen una red de asociaciones que informa y expresa la filosofía moral de la narración.

The rich mountain of Potosí, with its famed silver mines, has commanded the attention of Europeans, creoles (Americans of Spanish descent), and indigenous Andeans since the Spanish colonizers of Peru were made aware of its existence in 1545. Soon after its discovery, the rich mountain was represented in a variety of written and visual texts created by writers and artists from the Andes, Spain, and other parts of Europe. The reason that Hamlet and Don Quixote can be studied so thoroughly on the poststructuralist notion of a false or constructed reality is because they were both works far ahead of their time, often reflecting extremely postmodernist ideas. Don Quixote is generally considered the first modern novel, and Hamlet is also identified with the beginning of the modern age (Oort 319). Yet beyond this, these authors play games with the reader and with the structure of the fiction itself, which would fit sensibly in a 20th or 21st century novel rather than an early 17th century work. The present study examines the local influences on the ballads on the Eastern Sephardic Jews. With very few exceptions, these influences are from the Turkish language and from Modern Greek folk balladry. Therefore, I have divided the results of my findings into these two categories.

In the section concerning Sephardic ballads influenced by Greek folk poetry, I synthesize and expand upon the findings of Samuel Armistead and Joseph Silverman, who have combed through more than one hundred different Greek ballad collections to determine how these have influenced the Sephardic romancero.
