This analysis will focus on the impact of patriarchal ideals on gender expectations and roles in Central America and Mexico, through a sample of narrative texts by women authors. The experience of gender is always connected to national identity and the planning of social roles. Within the imagined community of a nation the valuation of female bodies creates a specific role for them in society. Why is there violence against the female body and what does this violence have to do with the concepts of social roles and subversive womanhood? El siguiente trabajo analiza las relaciones entre la novela Un mundo para Julius (1970), de Alfredo Bryce Echenique, y la tradición del género conocido como novela de aprendizaje o bildungsroman. Como pretendemos demostrar, el libro del autor peruano sostiene un complejo cuadro de relaciones con tal tradición, de la que Un mundo para Julius aparece como un fiel continuador al mismo tiempo que propone una recreación diferente de las características típicas de ese género. In the short stories of Peruvian writer Julio Ramón Ribeyro, there are two important subjects that are mutually connected and are part of a larger literary proposal: failure and sexual frustration. When Ribeyro wrote his short stories, he was portraying the Peruvian reality and the idiosyncrasy of Peruvians in general. Certainly, failure has often been associated with Ribeyro’s literary proposals, as most of his characters fail in one way or another; however, little has been said about sexual frustration, which is quite an important thematic element that should not be overlooked. El objetivo de la presente Tesis es determinar cuál es la función que cumple la belleza en la obra Ariel, de José Enrique Rodó. Para ello elaboraremos una teoría integradora del significado de la belleza rodoniana basada en el análisis de sus distintas dimensiones: metafísica, espiritual, moral, de integridad y heroica. Las teorías estéticas de Platón y Schiller, junto con la teoría del héroe de Thomas Carlyle constituyen el marco teórico de este estudio. We used a Deese-Roediger-McDermott false memory paradigm to compare Spanish words in which the phonetic realization of /s/ can vary (word-medial positions: bu[s]to ~ bu[h]to ‘chest’, word-final positions: remo[s] ~ remo[h] ‘oars’) to words in which it cannot (word-initial positions: [s]opa ~ *[h]opa ‘soup’). At study, participants listened to lists of nine words that were phonological neighbors of an unheard critical item (e.g., popa, sepa, soja, etc. for the critical item sopa). lens of decolonial theory. The first chapter is an introduction to the objectives of this

project. Next, the second chapter is based on an approach to the concepts of decoloniality

and postcolonial studies, which serve as a theoretical background for the purpose of this

El tema central de esta tesis es analizar la representación de la mujer sicaria presente en la era narcoterrorista colombiana recreada en el universo literario de la novela Rosario Tijeras de Jorge Franco.
