تتناول المقالة ركائز التصوّف المسيحي والتصوّف الفرنسيسكاني، مبرزة الرؤى المشتركة بينهما. ينطلق التصوّف المسيحي من صميم الحياة الدينيّة بوصفه تجربة روحيّة وجدانيّة تتّسم بها الأديان السماويّة كافّة، حيث تسعى إلى تحقيق الاتّحاد مع الله عبر التأمّل والصلاة في ثلاث مراحل. أمّا التصوّف الفرنسيسكاني، المرتبط بالقدّيس فرنسيس، فيتميّز بالتواضع والفقر الروحي والبحث عن الله من خلال الممارسات البسيطة كالصلاة والصوم. وعلى الرغم من تقاربهما في الروحانيّة، يختلفان في أساليبهما وممارساتهما الروحيّة.‏

Elle analyse les dépendances comportementales telles que le jeu ou la sexualité compulsive et met en évidence l’influence de la dimension religieuse. Elle conclut sur l’importance d’intégrer la spiritualité dans le traitement pour offrir la force et la résilience nécessaires au rétablissement durable.

يستكشف هذا المقال مفهوم الاعتقاد في الإطار المؤسّسي، مع التركيز على الجوانب الفلسفيّة للمؤسّسات العقائديّة أو الإيمانيّة. يتناول الجزء الأوّل فهم جوهر مؤسّسات الاعتقاد، ودراسة كيفيّة تشكّل هذه الهياكل المنظّمة وتوجيهها للمعتقدات الفرديّة داخل المجتمع. أمّا الجزء الثاني، فيتناول كيفيّة التلاعب بالمعتقدات داخل هذه المؤسّسات، مع تسليط الضوء على الآليّات والقضايا المرتبطة بإدارة المعتقدات الجماعيّة من خلال أمثلة واقعيّة.‏

يتناول البحث تاريخ المسيحيّين في الكويت منذ القرن العشرين، ولا سيّما مع الإرساليّين العرب–الأمريكيّين، كما يرصد أثر اكتشاف النفط على الوجود المسيحي في خمسينيّات وستّينيّات القرن الماضي. يدرس البحث العلاقة مع الفاتيكان والكنائس الثماني المعترف بها، مبرزًا واقع التعايش واحترام الدولة للحريّات الدستوريّة، ولا سيّما حرّيّة الاعتقاد. كما يشرح تأثير دخول الإسلام السياسي إلى البرلمان على حقوق المسيحيّين، مقارنةً بالدستور والاتفاقيّات الدوليّة، مبيّنًا دور المحكمة الدستوريّة في حماية الحقوق.‏

تمرّ هذه الأطروحة بثلاث فترات تأسيسيّة في تاريخ لبنان الحديث. الفترة الأولى هي فترة انهيار السلطنة العثمانيّة وانتقال لبنان إلى الحكم الفرنسيّ المباشر، ولا سيّما في جنوبه حيث يقع «جبل عامل» موضوع هذه الدراسة، أي رجال الدين المنتسبين إليه والخارجين عنه. أمّا الفترة الثانية فهي فترة الاستقلال اللبنانيّ وبداية ظهور المؤسّسات الإداريّة المنبثقة عن هذا الاستقلال. وأخيرًا، تمتدّ الفترة الثالثة إلى الربع الأوّل من الحرب الأهليّة اللبنانيّة.‏

Regius Professor of Divinity Emeritus in the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Selwyn College, Dr. David F. Ford OBE, one of the co-founders of Scriptural Resaoning, addresses ‘The Promise of Scriptural Reasoning’, in the context of 2024 Spring Mahle Lecture Series on ‘Interreligious Peacebuilding through Study.’ In what follows he does two things as part of this keynote lecture. First, he speaks about his experience of Scriptural Reasoning, its origins, its character, and its spread up to now. Second, he reflects on the future and promise of Scriptural Reasoning, culminating with an expansive vision of its potential.

This issue of Spiritus is a special one indeed. Almost three years ago I received a message from Martin Mittelstadt of Evangel University concerning the dialogue underway between representatives of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA) and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). This dialogue would take place over a three-year period (2021–2003), with papers and responses addressing three topics from the perspectives of Pentecostals and Roman Catholics. The participants expressed an interest in having the presentations from this dialogue published in journals representing both traditions.

In this essay, I propose a Pentecostal theology of vocation that extends out of the Full Gospel and prophethood of all believers. Though Pentecostals devote considerable attention to church-related/religious vocations, Pentecostals must reimagine vocational implications for fullness of the Spirit on all believers. All Pentecostals are called to embody the dual impulses of the Fivefold Gospel. They are being saved, sanctified, baptized in the Spirit, healed, and living in eager anticipation of Jesus’ return. In this article Kedjierski attempts to highlight areas of convergence between Pentecostal and Catholic understandings of the covenant of marriage while at the same time explicating the divergences of their respective theologies of marriage. This essay provides a historical and theological overview of the Pentecostal experience of divine healing. The essay argues that, for Pentecostals, the experience of divine healing carries a paramount significance to the “heart” of their spirituality and theology. Like the experience of Spirit-baptism and speaking in tongues, Pentecostals experience healing as a foretaste of God’s eschatological reign. The essay traces the development of healing practices among early and modern Pentecostals historically and theologically. This article contributes to Catholic-Pentecostal ecumenical dialogue by offering a particular Catholic perspective on the shared Christian belief in Christ is the Healer. More specifically, it distinguishes several ways in which humans are called to participate in the healing work of Christ. It considers Catholic approaches to sacramental, charismatic, miraculous, biomedical, psychotherapeutic, social, and ecological healing. It reflects on the historical background, contemporary significance, and interconnections of these diverse areas of healing, while distinguishing such a holistic understanding of healing from the narrower concept of a cure. As Pentecostal theology grows in appreciation of sacramental theology, this Catholic-Pentecostal dialogue represents an immense opportunity for Pentecostals. Previous iterations of dialogue identified infant baptism and believer’s baptism as topics of interest. Through a series of questions, this article identifies several challenges to baptism of both kinds. The complexity of issues is explored through contrasting Pentecostal experiences of water baptism and Pentecostal denominational and constructive theological interpretations of water baptism.
