Demon Possession And Exorcism In The Context Of Divine Providence In Luke-Acts, Charles Badu Yeboah
Dissertations
The dissertation examines the nature and function of demon possession and exorcism within the context of divine providence in Luke-Acts. Chap. 1, after defining the subject and purpose of the study, lays out the dissertation's methodology, constraints and relevance. Chap. 2 provides a survey of the state of scholarship on demonology in the New Testament. Chap. 3 discusses the backgrounds against which Luke's account of demonic possession and exorcism have been understood by prior scholarship. Chap.4 and 5 are devoted to the exegetical analysis of the demonic stories in Luke-Acts. Chap 4 examines stories of Jesus' encounter with the demoniacs …

Philosophy: Faculty Publications and Other Works
Much of my background lies in social ministry, but after ordination the provincial decreed that I was to work in philosophy also. It seemed an odd mix at the time: philosophers tend to be squeamish about the rough-and-tumble of social action, while some social activists give the impression that garlic should be worn to ward off the anemia-inducing influence of philosophers. The combination has given a certain Janus-like quality to my life; but it has worked, and I have felt no need to look back.
Justice is the theme of my essay. Many of those in ministries such as education …

Seminar On The American Catholic Experience, Jon Nilson, Robert Kress
Theology: Faculty Publications and Other Works
This Continuing Seminar originated last year in a paper and proposal by Robert Kress. Its purpose is to provide a forum for theological and, in particular, ecclesiological reflection on the history and experience of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. The two papers presented by Robert Kress and Jon Nilson this year were intended to provide both material for discussion and possibilities for the seminar's future work. A summary of the papers provided by the respective authors follows.

Shah Wali Allah's Arrangement Of The Subtle Spiritual Centers, Marcia K. Hermansen
Shah Wali Allah's Arrangement Of The Subtle Spiritual Centers, Marcia K. Hermansen
Theology: Faculty Publications and Other Works
This paper will present an explanation of some previously unexamined aspects of fillah Wali Allah's (d. 1762) conception of the subtJe spiritual centres (/afii'if). For Shah Wali Allah these spiritual components of a person were of great importance in explaining the theory and practice of individual spiritual progress on the Sufi path. His arrangement of these centres, together with his explanation of their interaction with one another directly reflects his more comprehensive understanding of cosmology and ontology, and therefore this aspect of his thought is less esoteric than it might initially seem.
