Hispanic Catholic Leadership: Key To The Future, Kenneth G. Davis, Andrew Hernández, Philip E. Lampe Aug 2002

Hispanic Catholic Leadership: Key To The Future, Kenneth G. Davis, Andrew Hernández, Philip E. Lampe

Journal of Hispanic / Latino Theology

This article assesses data from a 1999 survey of Hispanic adults concerning their experiences, needs, and deficits with respect to Hispanic-based leadership in their churches. Commissioned by the National Catholic Council on Hispanic Ministry (NCCHM), the study concluded that "because Hispanics are an increasingly important part of the Church in the United States (and society), Hispanic Catholic leadership development (especially among women, youth and young adults) requires an immediate and significant investment. Once formed, such leaders are very likely to contribute time, talent, and treasure to the Church."

Grace And Truth: A Divorce Theology For Missionary Organizations, Pennie Lynn Kemp Jun 2002

Grace And Truth: A Divorce Theology For Missionary Organizations, Pennie Lynn Kemp

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

Throughout church history, divorce has been a very sensitive subject, and with the divorce rate of the general population at almost fifty-percent, some controversy is inevitable. The issue becomes even more complex as more Christians, including church leaders and pastors, experience divorce. In light of this increase in the incidence of divorce, missionary organizations will inevitably encounter more divorced men and women who apply for service. The challenge for these agencies is to encompass a biblically based divorce theology that recognizes the seriousness of divorce on one hand while not appearing to submit to cultural influence on the other. This …

Integrating Faith In Family A Family-Centered Catechesis, Emma Stefanoni Jun 2002

Integrating Faith In Family A Family-Centered Catechesis, Emma Stefanoni

Pastoral Institute

The purpose of this pastoral project is to develop a "catechesis directed toward families." The underlying principle of this pastoral project is that family catechesis is the work of the entire parish and that, as stated in the General Directory for Catechesis, family catechesis must proceed, accompany, and enrich all forms of catechesis. This project will be directed toward sixty families of Cristo Rey Parish in Austin, Texas during the Fall semester of 2001. It will consist of six, one and one-half hour sessions to families. The sessions, conducted in Spanish and English, will include experiences of prayer, large group …

Sin, Sickness, And Salvation From Nazareth To Lake Woebegone, David Schoessow May 2002

Sin, Sickness, And Salvation From Nazareth To Lake Woebegone, David Schoessow

Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers

Ours is the ministry of bringing the prayers of the saints to God on behalf of the afflicted. Ours is the ministry of bringing to the afflicted God's healing gifts of absolution and Holy Communion. Our culture of death has little respect or appreciation for claims that such 'common medicines' bestow wholeness and life. So be it, we could expect little else. Let us not doubt the efficacy of these divine gifts in the lives of His people.

A Study Of Divine Spirituality, Simplicity, And Immutability In Petrus Van Mastricht's Doctrine Of God, Adriaan Cornelis Neele May 2002

A Study Of Divine Spirituality, Simplicity, And Immutability In Petrus Van Mastricht's Doctrine Of God, Adriaan Cornelis Neele

CTS Master of Theology (ThM) Theses

The problem stated is two fold: Post Reformation studies, and in particular those on the Nadere Reformatie have been deficient in appraising Petrus van Mastricht (1630- 1706) and his work, and the study of the divine attributes in context of the Dutch seventeenth century has been limited in general and restricted mainly to doctrinal reflections. Therefore, this thesis offers an introduction to the life and work of Petrus van Mastricht, and a descriptive analytical study of divine spirituality, simplicity, and immutability as found in the Theoreticopractica Theologia or Beschouwende en Praktikale Godgeleerdheit. The study of these attributes will be …
