English Preaching Before The Reformation- A Historical, Structural, And Critical Survey, With An Anthology Of Sermons 950-1550, Theodore John Kleinhans

Bachelor of Divinity

Whatever the reasons for the lack of interest, this thesis intends to examine, evaluate, and summarize the status of early English preaching. It is novel in that it combines a resume of preaching with the actual sermons themselves. Part one explains how the preacher went about making his sermon, and what, when, where, and how he preached; Part Two elaborates these generalizations with specific sermons or excerpts, the headnotes explaining and highlighting the major features of an individual selection.

Research Studies In Religious Education, Louis F. Rush

Pastoral Counseling-, Karl A. Tubesing Jun 1950

Pastoral Counseling-, Karl A. Tubesing

Bachelor of Divinity

The purpose and intent of this thesis is not that it be an exhaustive treatise of the subject, which it is not, nor that it be a critical analysis of that which has been written on the subject, but rather that it set forth in clear review certain fundamental and basic definitions and principles of Pastoral Counseling, which when understood, will help to clarify the present seeming confusion. It is the author’s fond hope that in some small way this thesis may help to accomplish this result. To this end this thesis is an attempt to define Pastoral Counseling as …

Neither Puritanism nor traditional morals are popular any more.. Especially the “Puritanism” and the morals connected with sexual behavior.

Bachelor of Divinity

This study endeavors to determine whether the introductions and conclusions of c. E. Macartney’s sermons meet the standards of purpose, of variety, of style, of peculiar characteristics as laid down by reputable homileticians and speech critics . By the standard of purpose we mean what the homileticians and speech critics prescribe as the aim and intent of the introduction and conclusion to any sermon or speech. We understand by variety the number of different approaches made to the audience to avoid monotony in the exordiums and perorations used Sunday after Sunday. In the discussion of style, we endeavored to ascertain …
