Research and publication on the Book of Revelation has escalated to a frenetic pace. In such a climate, in which, seemingly, every exegetical and theological nuance has been treated from virtually every conceivable angle, it would seem unlikely that any material of significance would be overlooked. However, as will be seen, careful study of two overlooked groups in the Apocalypse, to whom we will refer, shorthand, as the "earth dwellers" and the "heaven dwellers," provides considerable insight in regard to both the exegesis and biblical theology of this challenging book. This study identifies various factors involved in the diffusion of Christianity and the growth and expansion of the church among the urban Chinese diaspora in the greater Kuala Lumpur metropolitan area (KL) of Maluysia. Specifically, the research is designed to determine whether principles and theories related to the diffusion of innovations could inform or help explain the diffusion of Christianity and growth of the church. The study is further informed by insights, principles, and theories from literature related to other areas of study including Chinese religion and culture, religious conversion studies, church growth, urban ministry, and missiology. On August 12, 2003, members and friends of Lutheran Human Relations Association took time from the busy ELCA Churchwide Gathering to celebrate the 50th anniversary of LHRA.

The evening began with a four directional prayer, then music by the ever popular KYROS. The program continued with honored guests Revs. Karl Lutze, Anita Hill, and Joe Ellwanger inspiring the audience with their reflections on the theme "Speak Truth, Do Justice, Build Community." The title of this essay, "The Character of Joseph Smith," may promise more than can ever be fulfilled. Joseph warned the Saints of the difficulty in trying to understand him. In the King Follett discourse given two months before his death, he told them, "You don't know me--you never will." Another version of the same speech says, "You never knew my heart. No man knows my hist[ory]." He seems to say that what we want to know most--his heart and his history--are not to be found out. No matter how much we study him, we must be cautious about believing …

"Hinduism offers both views of social relations – that of hierarchical complementarity and that of egalitarian complementarity. In what follows I will begin with a closer examination of the Hindu notion of dharma and the basis for these two views – hierarchical and egalitarian complementarity – within Hinduism, and then, disagreeing with Ambedkar, I will argue that Hinduism has a valuable contribution to make to global discourse on human rights, both (1) through the teachings of Hinduism which advocate non-violence and compassion and thus relativize the meaning of hierarchies of difference and (2) through the Hindu vision of human community …

In a sense, the discipline of communication is all about peace. This is so because the discipline seeks to explain the relationship between communication and understanding as well as to promote better understanding through instruction in effective communication practices. Thus, all sub-disciplines of communication-from organizational communication to public address to health communication-address both theoretical and practical questions about how communication assists or frustrates human understanding. To the extent that an understanding serves as an antidote to human conflict, then, communication seeks to promote peace.

Imagine a code of ethics that advocated shady business practices and that the organization proposing the code came under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. Imagine further, that the investigation came to trial and the stance taken by the organization was found to be illegal by the highest court of the land. Such a scenario, if true, would raise a host of questions about codes of professional ethics, not the least of which would be “What value, if any, do codes of ethics have for the teaching of ethics?”
