Dr. Oliver Harms, President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, has canceled a meeting originally called for December 8, in which he and his Vice-Presidents were to sit with "front-line" workers, to discuss problems attending the racial revolution as it affects the church. He made his announcement in a letter dated Nov. 16 and sent to all who had previously been invited to participate.

The Lutheran Church in America, meeting in convention June 21-29 in Kansas City, Missouri, passed two recommendations which commit that church body to a broader and more intensive ministry to the Indian American. The two recommendations were embodied in the convention report of the LCA's Board of American Missions, and grew out of a special study conducted for the Board by Miss Henrietta Lund, consultant to the United Nations for the National Lutheran Council. 21 students and instructors from the University of Pennsylvania helped local Negroes erect a $10,000 community center during Christmas vacation. The community center was considered an essential support for nine Negro families who are striking for decent wages, because it will provide a focus for an economic co-operative to sustain those who are opposing the current $3 per day wage scale paid to them for sunrise to sunset labor.

A second meeting has been called by Dr. Oliver Harms, President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, to discuss the racial revolution and the church . The Synod's vice presidents and a selected group of churchmen who are directly concerned with urban ministry will constitute the assembly, to convene in Chicago December 8th and 9th .

The study was limited to the California-Nevada Conference of the Methodist Church and its antecedent, the California Conference, during the period 1941 to 1952. It has been the purpose of this research to seek to discover the particular functions of each of these, to show their correlation in producing religious advance, and to make certain suggestions as to how the values each has to contribute to the program of the modern Christian church may be more adequately realized.
