The History Of The Sabbath In Mormonism, Russel J. Thomsen

This study is a historical approach to the doctrine of the Sabbath in Mormonism. As such it is concerned with the first day Sabbath which has been observed with rare exception since the founding of Mormonism. The study also investigates the interest which has existed throughout the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the seventh day Sabbath. It is found that the Latter-day Saints' interest in the seventh day Sabbath has had significant influence in their development of a Sabbath theology, and in finding defenses for their observance of the first day of the week, …
