A Selected Bibliography Suitable For Use In Overseas Missionary Nursing Preparation, Anna May Vaughan
A Selected Bibliography Suitable For Use In Overseas Missionary Nursing Preparation, Anna May Vaughan
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Missionary nursing, as one form of nursing and as a method of endeavor, has been neglected in both nursing and mission literature.
It was the purpose of this study to identify, classify, and list bibliographical material which is applicable and would serve as a source of information to those preparing for, and directing others towards, overseas mission nursing.
The material for the bibliography was obtained through three sources (1) twenty-five institutions of religious education which offered courses in missions, (2) personal interviews, and (3) personal library research. The volumes included in this bibliography were selected on the basis of the …

An Analytical Examination Of Contemporary Missionary Motives Objectives And Methods, Donald L. Jeter
An Analytical Examination Of Contemporary Missionary Motives Objectives And Methods, Donald L. Jeter
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Christianity has been a missionary religion from New Testament times. It has claimed to be a religion unique from all other religions of the world because it has God's only revelation of the answer to the spiritual needs of mankind, and because of this claim to uniqueness it has been a proselyting religion. In recent years there have been some from within the ranks of Christianity who have not been too sure whether the missionary imperative is valid today. They feel that missions should be curtailed if not discarded because of the lack of a motive that is unique. Not …

Recommendations For Lay Leadership Training In Central Brazil, Ralph W. Wilde
Recommendations For Lay Leadership Training In Central Brazil, Ralph W. Wilde
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Evangelical pastors in central Brazil who pertain to the Brazilian denomination known as the "União das Igrejas Evangélicas Congregacionais e Cristãs" do Brasil(the U.I.E.C.C.B.) serve charges with as many as twenty-eight preaching points. Distances are great. Roads, communications and means of transportation are poor. Outpost stations, outpost Sunday schools and outpost congregations do well to see their pastor once a month. Some see him only once a year.
Since these U.I.E.C.C.B. pastors are overburdened with responsibility for sermons, sacraments and supervision, most of the speaking, teaching, witnessing and administering in the local church is done by laymen. Very few of …
