Mercy In Motion: A Ministry Of Missional Engagement To The Local Community, Zane Patterson Apr 2026

Mercy In Motion: A Ministry Of Missional Engagement To The Local Community, Zane Patterson

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

This paper presents Mercy In Motion, a philosophy of ministry designed to cultivate reconciliation between the church and the local community through intentional relationships marked by mercy, compassion, and community engagement. Utilizing William Frankena’s philosophy of education model, the ministry argues that humanity’s ultimate purpose is communion with God and others through reconciliation accomplished in Christ. The paper examines theological and cultural premises that shape the ministry, including the relational nature of the image of God, the influence of individualism on community, and the church’s responsibility to participate in reconciliation. It further develops a ministry profile emphasizing communion with God, …

Wholehearted: Equipping Local Churches To Help Women Heal From Sexual Abuse, Kaitlin Burden Apr 2026

Wholehearted: Equipping Local Churches To Help Women Heal From Sexual Abuse, Kaitlin Burden

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

Many women in the church have experienced sexual abuse. Trauma of sexual abuse often leaves a variety of effects, and healing is necessary. God has called the church to play a role in the healing journey by acknowledging sexual abuse, responding with care, and guiding women toward healing. However, many women are not met with care or proper resources from the church, despite a longing for healing. Wholehearted is a sexual abuse recovery ministry that can be implemented at any church, often as an extension of a women’s or care ministry. Wholehearted desires that women will take their next steps …

Young Life: A Philosophy Of Incarnational Youth Ministry In Grant County, Indiana, Symon Cater

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

This paper presents a vision for Young Life ministry in Grant County, Indiana, framed around William K. Francena’s model of moral education, with the unifying theme that adolescents are transformed from the inside out when they encounter the reality of being known and loved. Box A establishes the ultimate purpose of human existence as being known by God, knowing God, and being with God — a purpose that anchors every subsequent section of the paper. Box B builds upon this foundation by articulating five theological and sociological premises touching on prayer, Scripture, human relationality, adolescent cultural formation, and identity development, …

A Glimmer Of Light Among The Lowest Of The Low: Rev. Samuel F. Moore, Esther Hyun Oct 2025

A Glimmer Of Light Among The Lowest Of The Low: Rev. Samuel F. Moore, Esther Hyun

Historical Missionary Biography Papers

Samuel F. Moore was an evangelical missionary who reached out to the butchers, an untouchable caste in Korea during the Joseon dynasty. Moore supported the butchers with deep care and love, following God's command in the Old Testament to care for the poor and oppressed, and following Jesus' care for the marginalized in the New Testament. Moore supported the abolition of discrimination against the butchers as an act of social redemption and evangelism. Moore was a man who never compromised the truth of the gospel and had a heart after God’s own heart, where God’s mind, gaze, and tears were …

From Inherited Belief To Owned Faith: Mentoring Emerging Adults Through Fowler’S Faith Stages, Elijah Gutierrez

Christian Ministries Student Projects (All)

This paper explores how James Fowler’s theory of faith development and Richard Dunn’s model of mentoring through pacing can be used together to support the spiritual growth of emerging adults. Focusing on the transition from Stage 3 (Synthetic-Conventional Faith) to Stage 4 (Individuative-Reflective Faith), the paper highlights the challenges young adults face as they move from inherited to owned belief. Practical strategies are offered for ministry leaders and mentors who want to walk with emerging adults through this process of spiritual formation with empathy, patience, and intentional guidance.

Wholely: A Youth Ministry Program To Develop Life Skills For Students, Brenda Antigua

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

Churches usually focus primarily on people's spiritual lives. The mission of youth ministries is to foster a relationship with God among young people from an early age, but the church is called to do more because God cares holistically for his children. Wholely is a ministry that works with the academic, educational, and professional needs of students in Humboldt Park, Chicago, IL, providing them with monthly workshops that teach them life skills to prepare them for the future; mentorship from devoted leaders; inductive Bible study to learn what the Word says about them and what they are learning; a resource …

Harvest Leadership: A Philosophy For Empowering Indigenous Leaders For Ministry Among Unreached People Groups, Sarah Kelley

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

One-third of the world's population lacks meaningful access to the gospel, underscoring a critical need for contextualized ministry and leadership development. This paper outlines a philosophy of ministry for Harvest Leadership, a ministry dedicated to empowering indigenous leaders for ministry among unreached people groups. Following William Frankena's philosophy of education as its framework, this paper argues that effective Christian education for these leaders must be contextually appropriate, emphasizing principles such as Oral Learning, Social Learning Theory, and Experiential Learning. One More Neighbor: Utilizing Legal Services For Holistic Immigrant Care, Mitch Mcgeath Apr 2025

One More Neighbor: Utilizing Legal Services For Holistic Immigrant Care, Mitch Mcgeath

Christian Ministries Senior Capstone

This paper rests upon the assumption that local churches in the United States have a critical role to play in obeying the command of Jesus to care for immigrants. I argue for a ministry that combines the mission of Jesus with the compassion of Jesus by bringing together immigration legal services with opportunities to disciple our “neighbors,” immigrants who live in close proximity to our church site. One More Neighbor is a ministry within One More, the missions non-profit of Church at the Crossing on the northwest side of Indianapolis, Indiana. The ministry of One More Neighbor is explored systematically …

Business As Ministry In The Us Rural Midwest For The Common Good, Eric Zhong-Ming Ma

Business as Mission Theses and Dissertations

The rural Midwest region of the United States serves as a significant locus for American history, culture, and faith, in addition to being renowned as the nation’s primary agricultural hub for maize and soybeans production. Nevertheless, the prevailing body of literature pertaining to the integration of business and Christian ministry for the common good predominantly represented the viewpoints of individuals engaged in international missions or those involved in urban settings regarding the underlying purposes of business. Limited knowledge existed regarding the practices and perceptions of business as ministry stakeholders in the rural Midwestern United States concerning the concept of the …

Within the paper, major Lukan themes are portrayed. The birth narrative is reimagined with major themes of the narrative, especially the purpose of the birth narrative to Theophilus, Luke's mentor. The paper defines and identifies Christology and discipleship which is formed from Luke. The paper illustrates what Jesus really means by stating the first century was an "evil and adulterous generation" (Luke 9:41).
