This dissertation is a study on manuscript of "Kitab Ghayat al-Mar'am" by Syeikh Daud bin 'Abdullah al-Fatani which is catalogued as MSS 2838 in Malaysia National Library. It is selected on the basis that there is no study yet in great depth in the Malay Language with regard to the haj and 'umrah pilgrimage. The analysis is made using the transliteration method. In this method, the original text is rewritten in romanised Malay, where the sentences arc restructured, important words are explained, problems are examined and the sources of the prophet's sayings (hadith) and recitations of prayer (doa) are confirmed. …

The question that I am left with from the extraordinary presentations over the conference's two days borrows from Rabbi Steve Greenberg's and Ludger Viefhues's discussion of the multiple images of the biblical "Sodom". Conventionally Sodom has signified a place of sexual deviance or, conversely, sexual censorship. But as Greenberg pointed out, in many traditional commentaries on the story of the condemnation of Sodom, the issue was not that the townspeople were engaged in forbidden sexual practices, but that they were violent and hostile to those in need of shelter and food.

This dissertation is a research about ihya Ramadan (revival of the spirit of Ramadan) especially through solat terawih (The Ramadan prayer) hold around Kota Bharu districts, Kelantan. It focuses on the government role specifically the Kelantan state government concerning the implementation and practices of Ibadah during Ramadan and also the issues surrounding rites and rituals of solat terawih among Kelantanese society.

Malacca was indeed a unique Islamic civilization in the Malay Archipelago that dominated the region from 1400 to 1511. Malay, Portuguese, and British historiography records the greatness of this civilization, its civilizational impact in the region, and its fame that spread well beyond its frontiers. Nonetheless this civilization fell in the year 15 l I at the hands of the Portuguese imperialists.
