Socialization Or Hermeneutics? The Fundamental Cause Of Conflict Over Sexual Morals In The United Church Of Canada, Derek Albert Parry

There is conflict in the United Church of Canada over whether to approve of homosexual sexual activity and to ordain people who engage in homosexual sex. Official and unofficial organizations within the church, seeking to reduce the conflict and resolve the issue have stated that differences in Biblical hermeneutics is the underlying problem. This paper seeks to show that differences in socialization is the fundamental group of the differences in the United Church over homosexuality. The thesis is supported by four arguments. Carrie Eldridge is a genealogical researcher in Chesapeake, Ohio. This collection contains photocopies of many county record books of the Appalachian areas of West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky, ranging from the American Revolution until the early twentieth century. It also contains her personal research files on topics related to slavery and the Underground Railroad in Ohio and West Virginia as well as local history topics such as church and family histories.

Principles For Reorganization Of The Seventh-Day Adventist Administrative Structure, 1888-1903 Implications For An International Church, Barry David Oliver

This study investigates the process of reorganization of the administrative structures of the Seventh-day Adventist Church between 1888 and 1903. From the findings of the investigation are drawn some implications which relate to the need for contemporary denominational structures that accommodate and facilitate the mission of the church. The first three chapters present a documentary account of the process of reorganization. Chapter one places the study within the context of the nineteenth-century American Protestant missionary movement. Chapters two and three tell the story of reorganization on the basis of denominational archival materials. Chapters four and five analyze theological foundations and …
