Navigating The Living Waters Of The Gospel Of John: On Wading With Children And Swimming With Elephants, Paul N. Anderson
Navigating The Living Waters Of The Gospel Of John: On Wading With Children And Swimming With Elephants, Paul N. Anderson
Faculty Publications - George Fox School of Theology
The Fourth Gospel has been called "a stream in which a child can wade and an elephant can swim." John has long been used as a primer for newcomers to faith, and it continues to be a favorite devotional reading for young and old alike. On the other hand, John continues to be an ongoing storm center among the finest of Bible scholars and theologians. John's content, complete with its theological tensions, evoked three centuries of debate in the early church, and it continues to produce great torrents of diverse scholarly opinion on a great number of issues into the …

A Second Reformation? A History Of The Cell Church Movement In The Twentieth Century, Jim Egli
Journal of the American Society for Church Growth
Jim Egli’s article, “A Second Reformation?: A History of the Cell Church Movement in the 20th Century,” overviews the Cell Church Movement from its beginning until now. The fact that nine of the ten largest churches in the world use a cell ministry approach makes it important that we understand this creative approach to church life.

'Nor Turnd I Weene': Paradise Lost And Pre-Lapsarian Sexuality, Kent Lehnhof
'Nor Turnd I Weene': Paradise Lost And Pre-Lapsarian Sexuality, Kent Lehnhof
English Faculty Articles and Research
Generations of Milton scholars have agreed that Para dise Lost asserts a genital conjugality between Adam and Eve prior to the Fall. Critical consensus has been so extensive that Adam and Eve's sexual intimacy is a veritable non-question in Milton criticism. For this reason, few Miltonists have analyzed the physical specifics of Adam and Eve's relationship... Turner claims from the outset that "Milton . . . insists on a full sexual life for the unfallen Adam and Eve--bringing it to life as fully as his poetic resources allow"... Rather than argue for Adam and Eve's pre-lapsarian sexuality (establishing that the …

Wilford Woodruff And Zion's Camp: Baptism By Fire And The Spiritual Confirmation Of A Future Prophet, Thomas G. Alexander
Wilford Woodruff And Zion's Camp: Baptism By Fire And The Spiritual Confirmation Of A Future Prophet, Thomas G. Alexander
BYU Studies
During his youth in Connecticut, Wilford Woodruff, who in 1889 became the fourth president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, turned his feet to the path that led to religious conversion. His journey eventually led to his baptism into the Mormon Church in 1833. The following year he accepted a call to march with Zion's Camp. Wilford Woodruff was rebaptized by the fires of that experience, confirming his faith in Jesus Christ and causing him to devote the remainder of his life to the restored gospel.
