The Northwestern Shoshone Indians, (A) Under Tribal Organization And Government, (B) Under The Eccleastical Administration Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints As Exemplified At The Washakie Colony, Utah, Joshua T. Evans

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The Northwestern Shoshone Indians is the tribe of Indians that inhabited the territory north of the Great Salt Lake comprising the northern part of Utah and the Southern part of Idaho. The Indians have loose boundary lines, yet we can definitely state that this tribe occupied the territory from the Weber river on the South to the Snake river on the North; from Bear Lake and Bear river on the East to Raft river and Goose creek on the West. Their confines would take in Weber, Rich, Box Elder, Cache, and part of Morgan, counties in Utah; and Bear Lake, …

Theses and Dissertations

The problem of this thesis may be stated in four questions: (1) To what extent are "Fast Offerings" paid by the membership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? (2) What changes, if any, have occurred in the amounts of these fast offerings paid over the years 1916 to 1936, inclusive? A Study Of Fifty-Seven Returned Missionaries Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints In Idaho Stake Of Bannock County, Idaho, 1935-36, Reed G. Probst

Theses and Dissertations

One may well wonder how these missionaries adjust themselves again to their daily routine of life. What is the religious, economic, and educational status of these returned missionaries? The purpose, therefore, of this study is to discover facts which might show the present religious, economic, and educational status of fity-seven returned missionaries of Idaho Stake in Bannock County, Idaho.

Associated with these aspects under study are certain beliefs and practices to which the present reaction of the missionary is reported. Because of the very nature of the questions asked, the writer discovered the inability of the respondent in some cases …

The Christian Thought Of Doctor Toyohiko Kagawa And His Social Works And Movements, Eiichi Iimura Jan 1936

The Christian Thought Of Doctor Toyohiko Kagawa And His Social Works And Movements, Eiichi Iimura

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The world recognizes Toyohiko Kagawa as the St. Francis of Japan. His heart is one of pure love like that of St. Francis, but his battle has not been carried on by means of the sermon in a religious denomination. With a heart of love Kagawa has stood in the streets and would save the lives of the people. This is because he was born in 20th century Japan and not in Italy of the Middle Ages.

Fifteen hundred years after the fall of ancient Rome the world once more is about to undergo a mighty change. At this time …

William Taylor : Organizer And Statesman, Thomas Mee Jan 1936

William Taylor : Organizer And Statesman, Thomas Mee

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

To the average layman of the present day, as well as the majority of the new generation of ministers, the name of William Taylor rarely carries the deep impression that his labors justify. From the standpoint of the American Continents, this observation may have more in fact than in other parts of the world where his labors were more abundant in term of years devoted to the building of a more worthy civilization.

With a view to making more accessible the thrilling account of this truly noble Christian Statesman, much research has been made. In doing so, it is hoped …
