Color infrared aerial photography has wide application in many aspects of forest management but Its potential may not be fully realized because many users do not understand the color process and consequently how to properly interpret it. This paper takes the reader through the entire photographic process, beginning with the principles of light and ending with the final positive transparency. The step-by-step sequence is supplemented with colored illustrations and color and color infrared paired photographs. Once the process is understood, the prospective photo interpreter will be able to Independently deduce the actual color of any image on color Infrared film.

Because I feel a strong affinity for both film and music on a nearly equal basis, and because the two art forms compliment each other in practical and aesthetic senses, I have attempted to develop from established film theories, a personal and therefore unique approach to the combination of sound and picture images and the statement held therein.

This paper develops, in a literary form, thematic material derived from fourteen photographically etched metal pieces, two photo-serigraphs, and six photographically produced intaglio prints. The narrative takes the form of an allegorical fantasy which contains a practical attitude toward photographic alchemy. New insights are provided into the origins and nature of the photographic medium in the light of the symbolic context of the artwork.

The purpose of this thesis study was to explore various ways of producing creative photographs by manipulating an image as well as its plastic elements. The main areas of investigation included image and color separation, which produced new elements in the photographs. These elements synthetically created an image that was different from the original and had acquired a new meaning through the artist. This study should not be thought of as complete or final but infinite in its possibilities and extensions.

In this dissertation I trace the development of family (as opposed to public) memorial imagery and note the unique contribution of photography. I examine attitudes toward photography during its early years. These attitudes reveal that the medium was uniquely appropriate for the continuation and extension of the tradition of memorial imagery in America.

During the family's travels they visited a variety of places including Hannibal, Missouri, Pikes Peak, Colorado, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona, cliff dwellings, the Grand Canyon, the Mojave Desert, San Gabriel Valley, California, and Pasadena, California. A brief description of each place is written below the photographs in the album. This album was created between June 1921-December 1921.

Photo album serves as example of early photographic cyanotype process. The album cover reads (blue ink handwriting), "Alice C. Nelson from L.H. | Three of our Plainfield Friends. | March 28-1899." Photographs seem to have been compiled retrospectively months before its compilation. They depict three young cats, the interior of a home, a dog named Nero and his "mistress", Barton Lake, Morgan Vermont Lake shore and camp, men and women, and notably "L.H. andAlicia Nelson, June 18, 1898, and "Grandpa Dean Patterson, taken on his birthday, Feb. 28, 1899, Age 80 (school house)."
