My Capstone project is an exploration of how children perceive their environment. This exploration stems from my curiosity to know what it would have been like to grow up in a different part of the world. This analysis was executed through the mediums of both photography and writing.
Implementing the use of e-mail communication via the Internet, I got in contact with fifth grade teachers from Overseas Schools in countries across the world. The seven countries currently represented in this project areIceland,Poland,Greece,Lebanon,Sri Lanka,Japanand theUnited States of America. Giard Fellowship Evokes Enthusiastic Response, Shawn(Ta) Smith-Cruz

In his 1997 book, Particular Voices: Portraits of Gay and Lesbian Writers, Robert Giard captures nearly 200 photographs of his contemporaries. Giard's compilation of these portraits of lesbian and gay writers, carefully accompanied with textual excerpts, led this coffee-table monograph to stand as a supreme example of what Giard himself describes as "the autobiography of one gay reader."

Taking In showcases a selection of work from students attending the Art Institute of Boston Work was collected by members of this class for presentation before a jury of distinguished artists from outside of the school. The images selected by the jury were then sequenced for the book, which is designed to be distributed throughout the artistic community. In addition, the work is displayed in a gallery exhibition and on our website. In your hands is the result of the hard work and dedication of the members of this class.
