The Suzuki method of string playing was introduced to Ireland, and indeed to Europe, by the Cork School of Music in 1969.

This study examines the way the method was ' discovered' in Cork, the reasons why it was introduced, how it was misunderstood in the beginning and how, through careful management and by staff development it changed and developed into the successful programme it is today.

Through empirical research I have conducted a detailed investigation into the way in which the programme was managed from its earliest introduction.

This research project is a study of the XII Solos for A German flute with a through base for the Harpsichord by Thomas Roseingrave, an eighteenth-century composer and performer. In the context of eighteenth-century musical life, Roseingrave occupies a position as a minor, but noteworthy, composer. He was highly regarded as a performer by his contemporaries, and some of his compositions have endured to the present time. The work presents an overview of his life and gives a descriptive analysis and new edition of his flute sonatas

The Musicking Machine, Jody Berland

SWITCH

In this article, Jody Berland coins the term and defines the concept of modern music production obsolescing classically-trained musicians as the "Music(king) Machine." To support her claims, Berland refers to media theory scholar and philosopher, Marshall McLuhan, his son Eric, and their four laws that explore how one medium obsolesces another. Because these laws, posed as questions, are applicable to all artistic mediums, Berland utilizes this guide to expand upon the "Music(king) Machine".
