This hymn festival focused on multilingual and global worship, including the Lord's Prayer in Spanish, Nkosi, Nkosi from South Africa, Kyrie Eleison from Ghana, Halelua! Pelo Tso Rona from South Africa, Khudaya, rahem kar from Pakistan, a greeting of peace in an Asian Manner, and prayers from Ghana, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Peru, and Mexico.

Each time period has its own social, cultural and religious rules from which composers obey. Bach’s sacred and secular works walk a fine line and are hard to distinguish between, but each has been performed throughout the ages in a variety of settings.

This paper investigates Bach’s: Ideologies and Scoring which include his petition of August 23, 1730, his Horn (Corno) and its many names and uses. The Flute Music Of Luigi Zaninelli, Julie Martin Maisel

Research Theses

Luigi Zaninelli, born in 1932, currently serves as Professor of Composition and Theory at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. During his tenure there, he has composed more than 150 works. His total output exceeds 300 published compositions and more than 60 unpublished pieces. Zaninelli's compositions involving the flute are a valuable addition to the flutist's solo and chamber repertoire. The music can be performed by advanced high school and college level students and provides access to twentieth-century American flute music. His writing for flute is idiomatic and focuses on the ilmate beauty of the instrument. Through researching flute …

The Effect Of Music On Visuospatial Memory, James L. Mccracken

Music was utilized in an attempt to enhance visuospatial memory. Twenty-eight individuals, who attended a United Methodist Church in southern West Virginia, were randomly assigned to experimental and control conditions. The experimental group was exposed to new age and classical compositions, counterbalanced for order effects. The new age and classical selections were of similar tempo and complexity. The control group received two relaxation periods, of a comparable length to the music presented to the experimental group. The 7/24 Spatial Recall Test was used to measure visuospatial memory. Physiological Responses To Music: The Possible Link Between Volume And Hand Grip Strength, Holly Harrom

Capstone Research Projects

Both stimulating and relaxing music have been shown to affect human physiology. The affect of music volume on band grip strength is reported in this study. Eighteen subjects listened to four diverse music types at four different decibel levels, with strength being measured after each combination of style and volume. The data of individual subjects showed no correlation between volume and hand grip strength, however, the collective values of all subjects indicate that a direct relationship may exist.

Music exists as a discipline that often enhances other subjects. An integrated curriculum can provide students with connections to the real world, greater depth of study, and can generate enthusiasm. Through integration, many boundaries can be crossed. The purpose of this project is to create an integrated curriculum for music and social studies for the fifth grade.
