This is a wonderful story about a little bird named Tico who at the beginning of the story has no wings. He is visited by the Wishingbird, who grants him a pair of beautiful Golden Wings. A family of field mice, who live in a stone wall on an abandoned farm, have been gathering supplies for the winter. Frederick, however, has not lifted a finger. They accuse him of being lazy, but he claims he’s gathering things just as important as food- the sun’s rays, colors, and words. When winter comes, the food runs out, but Frederick’s unique supplies and poetic delivery sustain the mice.

This is the story of a chameleon who is sad that he does not have a color of his own. He changes color wherever he goes. He tries to remain one color by staying on a leaf – but the leaf changes color with the seasons. He meets another chameleon who suggests they travel together. So they were green together, and yellow together and violet together and lived happily ever after.
