"Rodolfo Walsh escribió sus dos únicas obras de teatro, La granada y La batalla, en 1965, cuando ya se reconocía como un intelectual de izquierda, bajo la influencia de su experiencia cubana, pero aún reticente a creer que para los países latinoamericanos era posible dar comienzo a un proyecto evolucionario liderado por grupos armados. En la tematización de las Fuerzas Armadas, Walsh llama la atención sobre el militarismo de los países latinoamericanos y usa la sátira para agudizar su crítica a tal fenómeno. This project is a comparative case study between the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo in Argentina who formed during the dictatorship of the military junta from 1976 to 1983 and the groups of women that formed organizations in Chile under Pinochet beginning in 1973. The thesis looks at the roles of specific institutions, such as their respective governments, the United States and the Catholic Church and how they differed in each country. Juan Ruiz de Alarcón, uno de los grandes dramaturgos del Siglo de Oro, ha sido estudiado tanto dentro del canon peninsular como del mexicano. La crítica ha buscado con interés singularidades de su trabajo que se pudieran atribuir a su origen americano. Una de sus obras menos leídas, El semejante a sí mismo, es uno de los pocos casos dentro de las obras alarconianas en que encontramos una larga descripción directamente relacionada con México. Modelos Masculinos Y Violencia En Sanctuary Y Crónica De Una Muerte Anunciada, Cesar Valverde

This essay analyzes how two novels, William Faulkner’s Sanctuary and Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Chronicle of a Death Foretold, present masculine models that juxtapose power and violence during times of social crisis. Both novels present violent masculinities that overcome peaceful masculinities, in conflicts that result in murders and rapes; but rather than acuse the individuals responsible for the violent acts, the texts point out the social mechanisms that inexorably move the authors of the crimes. In both works we also see violence against women and resulting public deaths of men wrongly accused, which happen due to an inability to adapt to …

Before the Jesuit Francisco de Florencia was able to publish the History of the Province (1694) he was forced to remove several chapters from the second book of the first volume. The section that was cut out of his manuscript reviews the errors of ancient theories on the environment of the New World, the greatness of Mexico City before the Spanish conquest, and the natural abundance of New Spain. This document is extremely valuable because it demonstrates how colonial historians were restricted by state censorship in what they were able to publish on America.
