As the translation process is a mental one, subject to cognitive processes, the article aims to study the effect of the attention as a cognitive factor in the translation process. After defining the concept of attention and its forms, the study proposes, in the first stage, a design that would explain how the translator manages his attention resources. The article presents in a second stage, an empirical study which aimed to explore the effect of distraction in the translated output and thus in making mistakes.
