This article deals with retranslation, its causes and characteristics. The analysis is illustrated by an English text taken from the "Prophet" (a book by Gibran Kahlil Gibran) translated into Arabic several times. Five different translations will be studied. This book was chosen because the writer approved the first translation. Why was it retranslated then? Some of the translators, in their introduction, justified their new approach and all of them agreed that the older versions were not faithful to Gibran's spirit and had some major errors. Phrasal verbs are probably the most common and representative constructions of all the multi-word expressions in English. Indeed, suffice it to see the large number of existing phrasal verbs, not to mention that new ones are constantly coined, which shows they are a very productive and perpetually evolving class. This article aims to draw up a brief typology of neological phrasal verbs and to provide examples of the most relevant contemporary phrasal verbs in terms of lexical innovation.

As the translation process is a mental one, subject to cognitive processes, the article aims to study the effect of the attention as a cognitive factor in the translation process. After defining the concept of attention and its forms, the study proposes, in the first stage, a design that would explain how the translator manages his attention resources. The article presents in a second stage, an empirical study which aimed to explore the effect of distraction in the translated output and thus in making mistakes. Since the 1950’s the Chinese Animation industry has been trying to create a unique national style for China. The national style of the 1950’s and early 1960’s was one of freedom, fantasy, and creativity. With the success of “Heroic Little Sisters of the Grassland”/草原英雄小姐妹(1965), the government administration, namely Jiang Qing of the “Gang of Four”, demanded that all animation should follow specific guidelines based on Social Realism guidelines. Due to the demographic demands of Northwest Arkansas and the prevalence of disparities in health care, this study aims to assess the current practices, perceived need, and willingness to provide bilingual Spanish-English outpatient pediatric occupational therapy options in Northwest Arkansas. The hope of this study is to better inform pediatric occupational therapy providers of the growing need for bilingual services so that they may respond appropriately in order to better serve Latino and Spanish-speaking patients and their families or caregivers.

An Exploratory Study Of Acculturation Experiences Of Graduate Student Immigrants At The University Of San Francisco, Courtney Lamar

This study explores the shared challenges during the acculturation process of graduate student immigrants pursuing higher education in the United States. 13 graduate student immigrants at the University of San Francisco discuss their experiences of cultural adjustment into U.S. culture. Through qualitative interviews and thematic analysis, this study seeks to understand the acculturation experiences of graduate student immigrants in the San Francisco Bay Area of the United States. This analysis is based on the individual-level experience examining attitudes and acculturation strategies in the dominant society. With the rise of technology it becomes important to measure and analyze the communication patterns that are emerging from these changes. Technologies open up different communication patterns for individuals to use (Tomas & Carlson 2015; Walther, 1996; Wei & Leung, 1999). Thus, this study develops the “ASOHIO” perspective, which incorporates a range of new and old communication patterns, online communication, offline communication, synchronous communication, asynchronous communication, interpersonal communication, and hyperpersonal communication. Mayan Language Revitalization, Hip Hop, And Ethnic Identity In Guatemala, Rusty Barrett

This paper analyzes the language ideologies and linguistic practices of Mayan-language hip hop in Guatemala, focusing on the work of the group B'alam Ajpu. The members of B'alam Ajpu use a mix of Spanish and Mayan languages in their music and run a school that combines lessons in hip hop (rapping, break-dancing, etc.) with efforts to promote the use of Mayan languages among children. The language ideologies associated with B'alam Ajpu intersect and challenge the ideologies associated with both language revitalization and with hip hop. The linguistic practices of B'alam Ajpu also challenge hegemonic assumptions regarding ethnic identity in Guatemala.

Kafkaesque, Orwellian, eerie, surreal, bizarre, grotesque, alien, wacky, fascinating, dystopian, illusive, theatrical, antic, haunting, apocalyptic: these are just a few of the vaguely science-fictional adjectives that are now associated with North Korea. At the same time, North Korea has become an oddly convenient trope for a certain aesthetic – an uncanny opacity; an ominous mystique – that many writers and artists have exploited to generate striking science-fictional effects in texts with little or no connection to North Korean reality.
