Gargoyles On Glatfelter Hall, Katherine D. Anthony
Gargoyles On Glatfelter Hall, Katherine D. Anthony
Hidden in Plain Sight Projects
When one walks around the campus of Gettysburg College, Glatfelter Hall towers above them, as one of the College’s most commanding edifices. One takes notice of the arched doorways, sunken windows, and the giant bell tower whose occupant chimes on the hour. What one may not notice are the eyes watching from the brownstone; faces and creatures at home in the stone, surveying your every move. Grotesques and gargoyles sit in the moldings, on the window sills and at the junction where roof and wall meet, hidden from the eye that does not have the compulsion to look. These architectural …

SCL Faculty and Staff Publications
Author writes of her personal experiences growing up in an historic house in downtown Bowling Green, Ky. Built in 1844, this house served as a private residence, an overnight guest house, the headquarters for Johnnie Massey Clay, President of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church's Women's Missionary Society, and apartments for senior adults, small families and young professionals. Over the years, what was originally a two room over two room Greek-revival townhouse built in the popular Flemish bond brick pattern had at least four additions and was renovated for creative reuses.

Magic - No! Miracle - Yes! The Founding And Early Development Of The University Of South Alabama, James F. Caldwell
Magic - No! Miracle - Yes! The Founding And Early Development Of The University Of South Alabama, James F. Caldwell
James Caldwell Book
This document's purpose is to present a thesis in the form of memoirs to account for my involvement in the development of the University of South Alabama. It was made possible by a confluence of several factors including federal legislation to help the nation meet the problems of demobilization of the military forces of the United States, the sweep of historic events having to do with the election of Harry Truman as president of the United States in 1948, the political situation in Alabama that led to the election of George C. Wallace as the governor of the State of …
