The Campbell-Staats collection consists of two separate series of information. The first series is comprised of the Jennie Ratliff Campbell papers. These papers consist mainly of personal correspondence to Miss Ratliff dating from 1875-1888. The majority of these letter were from two particular individuals, R. G. Drysdale and W. S. Livengood, and concerned everyday occurrence and mutual acquaintances. The remainder of the series is made up of samples from her schoolwork, songs she had copied, business correspondence, and a book of poetry given to her by her fiancee, C. W. Campbell.

The Frances Lander Spain Papers consist of correspondence, clippings, photographs, memorabilia, and copies of her publications relating to her involvement with professional library organizations such as the American Library Association; her library work in Thailand as a Fulbright and Rockefeller Foundation grantee (1951-1952 and 1964-1965); and her work as coordinator of children’s services at the N.Y. Public Library (1953-1961). Correspondents include librarian Louis Round Wilson. There is also a family history which includes the family names Chambers, Collier, Cook, Crossland, Dantzler, Gran, Hardeman, Lander, McDaniel, McPherson, Miller, Pearce, Pierce, Schenk, Snead, Spain, Sparks, Warlick and Zimmerman.

There is also family history material relating to the Neely family. This collection is a good source of information concerning the South Carolina Home Economics Extension program in the first half of the twentieth century. This paper concentrates on the political, economic, and military policies of New France (French Canada) towards the Indian tribes inhabiting and bordering New France during the period 1672-1701. It was a period of intensive exploration coupled with the fur trade, principally beaver, both of which activities spurred France to compel its "province" of New France to make alliances with the Indians and to block penetration of the French-claimed area by the English colonists to the south (New York and New England) and to the north (Hudson's Bay area).
