The Place Where You Are, Gabriel O'Malley
The Place Where You Are, Gabriel O'Malley
New England Journal of Public Policy
We moved to 21 Sparks Street in Cambridge in 1974. A bright yellow triple decker with a red door, it stood at the head of a dead end populated by worker cottages that had once been home to servants who worked up the road on Brattle Street. It housed three women. The oldest, Mrs. Crowley, ancient even then, lived on the third floor. Her daughter, Louise, known to me forever as Mrs. Sughrue, lived on the second floor with her adult daughter, Cathy. Before renting the first floor apartment to my parents, Mrs. Sughrue invited them up to her place. …

Books and Documents
After publishing "John Wood (Blacksmith) From Scotland to Rawdon, NS in 1815, His Descendants" in 2013, the author traveled to the home of his ancestors in Scotland in 2014. There he met and exchanged information with other extended family members who had been compiling information on Margaret Cranston, the wife of John Wood, as well as John Wood. This additional information allowed him to amend his 2013 book, which is presented here in digital format.

Pleasure In Atrocity, Ladelle Mcwhorter
Pleasure In Atrocity, Ladelle Mcwhorter
Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Faculty Publications
As Foucault says, genealogical work can be tedious and gray, but it is also pleasurable, even when the archives one delves into are filled with hatred, violence, and injustice. This article explores that pleasure, both in dangers and its possibilities, and in the process offers a partial genealogy of corporate personhood in U.S. legal history.
"For Safety And For Liberty," The Devan Family Of Gettysburg, Andrew I. Dalton
"For Safety And For Liberty," The Devan Family Of Gettysburg, Andrew I. Dalton
The Gettysburg College Journal of the Civil War Era
This article explores Gettysburg’s 19th century black history through the exciting experiences of the Devan family. Originally from Frederick County, Maryland, they came to Gettysburg as free people of color. In town, one member of the family was suspected of assisting slave catchers by handing over escaped slaves for a profit. Four members of the family served during the Civil War in the United States Colored Troops, three of whom died in the service. This complex story proves the fact that black history is extremely complex and should not be painted by historians with a single brush stroke.

"For my grandmother, living in Advent meant not only a longing for her eternal home but a concern for her children’s children, because, just as God was faithful across the generations from Adam to Christ, He will be faithful across the generations from Christ to the Last Day."
