The Ten Tribes Of Wier In America - Accession 715 No. 6, Family History - Wier Family, William Swansea Wier

The Ten Tribes of Wier in America was compiled and printed by William Swansea Wier in Atlanta, Georgia in 1933. The book covers the family and descendants of Thomas and Mary Withrow Wier from the 1700s through 1933. They eventually settled in Greenwood, S.C. There are handwritten notes in the book presumably added by the author. Other surnames found in the volume include: Blake, Britt, Dunbar, Gregg, Peden, McDill, McDowell, Mull, and Scott. The book includes photographs and a folding generational chart. Please see the attached document.

The Browne Family Papers consist of incoming correspondence (mainly from the 1840s to the 1850s) of Newton Browne and Jane Morris Browne from various relatives, together with deeds, wills, indentures, land plats, photographs, and various other papers concerning the Browne Family of Anderson County, South Carolina. The collection also includes information on the allied families of Breazeale, Carpenter, Dobbins, Gunnin, Hillhouse, McFall, McGregor, and Morris.

The Friedheim's of Rock Hill, South Carolina relates the history of the family through narrative, stories, anecdotes and photographs. There is a outline of the family connections at the back of the booklet. The Friedheim Brothers operated a department store in Rock Hill in 1866. The store closed in 1965. The author, C.H. Albright married one of Arnold Friedheim's granddaughters.

The James Russell Wilson, Sr. Papers are a valuable source of Lancaster County, South Carolina history, with a focus on Indian Land history. James Russell Wilson, Sr. (1885-1979) owned a large amount of land in Lancaster County and there is a substantial amount of titles, deeds, and other records of real estate transactions dating back to 1887. There are also a number of quite precise plats and maps. Mr. Wilson’s papers could be of genealogical interest.

There is much material concerning the financial affairs and estate of Arnold Freidheim and his brother, Julius Freidheim, owners of Freidheim’s Department Store, and the heirs to their estates, which included the members of the Marshall Family. Also included are the executors annual reports concerning actions taken in carrying out the terms of the Freidheim’s will and a genealogy of the John Clawson Family.
