The Gospel Reaching Out newsletter was produced by the Hart County Gospel Music Association which was headquartered in Munfordville, Kentucky. The newsletter contained information and calendars related to “singings” and singing conventions in south central Kentucky, area singing groups, musical trends, and features about collectors, churches and enthusiasts as well as advertisements from sponsors. On September 22, 1949, Shirley Cupp, Irma Beisel, Frances Stuckey and Mr. Hilary Bufton Jr. met in a coffee shop in downtown Kansas City to incorporate the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). Jean Fulkerson helped start The Kentucky Colonels Chapter on 3 June 1964 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Twenty-six women met at Western Hills Restaurant and elected Linda Sidebottom as the first president. Besides providing professional development opportunities for local businesswomen, the Chapter gave scholarships to women furthering their education, and held social and recognition events throughout the year. Manuscript Collection

The project, which began in July 1976, and ended June 30, 1977, focused on ethnic groups in the area: Southern Appalachian, African-American and Native American. The collection includes a wide variety of material that could be used for research on York County and for instructional purposes by teachers. The collection consists of magazines, newspaper clippings, books, audio tapes, video cassettes, slides, transparencies, and copies of historical documents such as letters and land records.
