Papers, 1773-1973, of the Greenwood family. Most of the family lived in Farmington, Maine or its environs and the majority of the papers originate from their businesses and interests in the area.
The earliest papers are from Joseph Greenwood of Dublin, NH. Joespeh was a leading citizen of Dublin, serving as Selectman, Treasurer, Town Clerk, schoolmaster, Justice of the Peace, and Representative to the First Provincial Congress of New Hampshire.
Nathaniel Greenwood, Jr., Joseph's grandson, was the first of the family to move to Farmington, Maine in 1832 with his wife, Huldah (Howe) Greenwood. Nathaniel and Huldah had ten children, …

Collection contains personal papers of the Turner family of Isle au Haut, Maine. Included is correspondence among family members, primarily letters to John Turner, 1852-1889, from his son Asa and others; and letters to Lucretia Turner, 1850-1889, from daughters Elcy and Mary Abigail, son Asa, and other family members. Also found in the collection are letters to Asa, 1860-1869, including those from friends serving in the Civil War. The collection contains notes and information on the Perkins family gathered and compiled from around 1911 to 1913 by Enoch Perkins of Malden, Massachusetts. Also included are letters to various generations of the family written between 1772 and 1885 as well as legal documents, wills, deeds, receipts and other family papers dating from 1700 to 1901. Newspaper clippings about family members, poetry and various artifacts are also found as part of the collection. The collection contains 47 letters from members of the Brown family written primarily between 1860 and 1875. The letters are arranged chronologically. Most were written by Josiah S. Brown and Zachariah B. Brown, Jr. to their father and their five brothers in Burton, New Brunswick. Several of Josiah's letters describe his experiences in the Civil War, his reaction to the death of Abraham Lincoln, and his migration to the West after being mustered out of the Army.
