THE WORLD HERITAGE PROPERTY of Brú na Bóinne attracts thousands of visitors from Ireland and around the globe, many drawn by the remarkable winter solstice phenomenon, when the rising sun’s rays illuminate the burial chamber. During 2020 it became clear that public health measures to combat the global pandemic were going to preclude visitor access to the chamber of the Great Mound of Newgrange, including during the annual winter solstice celebrations. Fashion As Freedom - The Bustle And Women Of The Late Victorian Era, Sydney A. Everett

In contrast to the general bias of Americans, the First- and Second-Bustle periods allowed the women of the time to find freedom through changes in the Victorian fashion. The women of the 19th century were able to achieve freedom through the bustle periods between 1867 and 1889 by gaining freedom of movement more so than through any of the other fashions, first by gaining social and economic benefit through smuggling items in their bustles and finally, through being able to remove the bustle for athletic wear. In seventeenth-century Dutch painting, the lemon holds a prominent visual, economical, socio-cultural, and moral position. This trend would then be repeated in contemporary art, beginning in roughly the 1970s. This thesis, in two parts, will explore the significance of the prevalence of the lemon and their recurrent presence in both Dutch Golden Age art and modern and contemporary artwork. This multivalent approach will look at lemons as not only a visual representation of fruit, but a symbol of larger concepts such as globalization, commercialism, colonialism, sexuality, religion, linguistics, mythology, and pop culture.

Some museum nonprofit organizational leaders are experiencing financial losses. Less than 25% of nonprofit agencies in the United States have enough funds to operate for six months. Museum nonprofit leaders are concerned with financial losses because the decrease in financial support can cause decreased operational funding and prohibit museum nonprofit leaders from carrying out the organizational mission. Grounded in Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior, the purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore successful event fundraising strategies nonprofit managers use to increase financial support. The participants were three successful nonprofit museum leaders who had fundraising responsibilities. The study …
