During April 1964, a trial excavation was conducted at Tel Massad in Kefar Rupin, under the direction of Z. Yeivin, following construction work on the tell (map ref. unknown). Walls that belonged to a large building were exposed, some of which were destroyed by the bulldozer. Seven spots were examined, four in the trench and three more on the surrounding mound. Fragments of pottery vessels that were dated to the Byzantine and Early Islamic periods were found inside the building. In 1964, an excavation was conducted in Qiryat Tiv‘on (map ref. 2105/7353), following the discovery of a building during the laying of foundations for the Institute of Music at Oranim College. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by R. Givon. The building was identified as a granary. The building had a pear-like shape. No diagnostic finds were recovered.

In 1964, an excavation was conducted in the area of the monument known as ‛Maqam Neby Yahyah’, about two kilometers east of Moshav Mazor (map ref. unknown). An Arab ruin was exposed, beneath which pottery that was dated to the Persian period and the Iron Age was found. Additional finds consisted of a bronze fibula that was dated to the Iron Age and a bone spindle weight.
