In August–September 1970, a salvage excavation was conducted in Gesher Ha’Ziv (map ref. unknown), on the southern extension of the eastern cemetery of Akhziv, following the construction of a swimming pool. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by M. Prausnitz, with the assistance Y. Ben Yosef.

In May 1970, a salvage excavation was conducted in Qanat el-Ja‘ar (Ein Hanatziv; map ref. 2479/7091), following the discovery of graves during development works at the quarry. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by P. Porat. Three shaft tombs dating to the Early Bronze Age, that were damaged by the mechanical quarrying equipment, were excavated.

In 1969, an underwater excavation was conducted in Sharm el-Sheikh bay, under the direction of A. Raban. The remains of a ship and its cargo were exposed. According to the excavator, the ship apparently sank due to a fire. The finds were dated to the 17^th century CE, at the earliest (see excavation file for a detailed report, plans and drawings of finds).

*According to a note on the excavation card, the permit was granted retrospectively and was erroneously recorded as 1968, although the excavations actually took place in 1969. The original reports in the excavation file correctly indicate the year 1969.

In March–April 1970, a salvage excavation was conducted near En-HaBesor (map ref. unknown), following preparations for the construction of a national park. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by D. Meiron and Y. Yehezkel. The excavation was carried out as part of the site reconstruction, including the Byzantine cistern in which a mosaic floor was discovered in 1917. In January–April 1968, three excavations were conducted in Be'er Sheva (map ref. unknown), under the direction of R. Cohen, following construction and development work in the city. In Shikun D, a group of eight graves arranged in three rows was exposed, which included a grave built of ashlar stones containing the interment of a man and a woman. A stone with a cross engraved in a palm leaf pattern was placed next to the heads of the deceased. Near the graves was a plastered pit containing architectural elements and fragments of pottery jars that were dated to the Byzantine period.

In June 1968, a salvage excavation was conducted at 39 Alfassi Street in Jerusalem (map ref. unknown), following the discovery of a burial cave during the construction of a shelter. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by J. Naveh and V. Tzaferis, with the assistance of Sh. Moskowitz (surveying).

In December 1968, a salvage excavation was conducted in Tiberias, following the expansion of the Sonol gas station (map ref. 2509/7442). The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by A. Druks and D. Bahat. Druks excavated before the construction work had begun and Bahat continued the excavation. In his excavation, Druks discovered the remains of graves, which consisted of stones, plaster and bones.

In June 1968, a salvage excavation was conducted near the village of Fureidis (map ref. unknown), following the discovery of tombs during the widening of a road that connects the coastal road with Yoqne‘am. In 1967, a salvage excavation was conducted in Nazareth (map ref. 22855/73395), following the discovery of a rock–hewn burial cave during preparations for construction on a private plot. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by Z. Yeivin. The cave contained four hewn loculi, one of which was breached during the course of the construction work.
