Meine Präsentation heute, "Förderung und Vermittlung interkultureller Kompetenz in deutschen und amerikanischen Geschäftsbeziehungen im DaF Unterricht", gibt einen Überblick über ein Forschungsprojekt, mit dem ich mich seit einem Jahr beschäftige. Mit der Hilfe von Dr. Regina Range, meiner Mentorin und Assistant Professor of German an der Universität von Alabama, habe ich versucht, wichtige Unterschiede zwischen den deutschen und amerikanischen Wirtschaftskulturen zu identifizieren. Ziel des Projekts war und ist es immer noch, Möglichkeiten und Strategien zu entwickeln, um diese Einsichten in Lehrpläne zu integrieren.

Außergewöhnliche Argumente Gegen Den Faschismus: Die Blechtrommel Und Amarcord, Alec Parry

Heute, werde ich mich mit zwei Filmen der Nachkriegszeit befassen, Die Blechtrommel (Völker Schlöndorff, 1979) und der Italienische Film Amarcord (Federico Fellini, 1973).

In beiden Filme erlebt man Deutschland und Italien in den 1930er Jahren. Zu dieser Zeit waren beide Länder von Faschismus geprägt, was auch der Grund ist, warum ich beide Filme und Länder vergleiche. Zusätzlich ähneln sich die Filme bei der filmischen Darstellung des Faschismus. (Ferner, Die Filme sind bemerkenswert für die Nationalkinematographie Italiens und Deutschlands.)

In der Zeit nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg in Deutschland gab es Inflation, Wiederaufbau und ein allgemeines Schweigen nach dem Trauma des Krieges. Nach dem Krieg reflektiert die Kunstbewegung Expressionismus kulturell diese Stille. Im Gegensatz zum Nachkriegsexpressionismus entwickelte sich Neue Sachlichkeit in eine rivalisierende Kunstbewegung, indem sie die raue Realität der Weimarer Republik und des Anstiegs des Dritten Reichs aus. Im Jahre 1952 zitierte Generalstaatsanwalt Fritz Bauer in seinem Plädoyer im Prozess gegen Otto Ernst Remer eine bekannte Passage der Rütli-Szene aus Friedrich Schillers Wilhelm Tell (1804).¹ Dieses Zitat aus dem paradigmatischen deutschen Drama des Widerstandes in einen Zusammenhang mit diesem Prozess zu bringen war ein rhetorischer Kunstgriff. Historiker, Politikwissenschaftler und Bauers Biographen haben den Remer-Prozess eingehend erforscht, jedoch Bedeutung und Funktion des Wilhelm-Tell-Zitats sowohl im Gerichtssaal als auch im Hinblick auf dessen Bedeutung in der deutschen Nachkriegszeit weitgehend unberücksichtigt gelassen.²

Das Projekt „Ideologische Instrumentalisierung von DDR-Kinder- und Jugendliteratur und Film in der Nachkriegszeit“ untersucht Kinderbücher, die von namhaften Schriftstellern wie Bertolt Brecht, Peter Hacks und Heiner Müller geschrieben wurden und Filme, die von Regisseuren wie Christian Steinke und Arkadi Gajdar verfasst und gedreht wurden. Diese Untersuchung schlägt eine Rekontextualisierung dieser literarischen und filmischen Texte vor, um die historischen und soziologischen Umstände, in denen sie produziert wurden, näher zu untersuchen. Die Annäherung an die ausgewählten Texte werfen Licht auf ihre Instrumentalisierung, um nicht nur die Kinder, sondern auch erwachsene Leser zu indoktrinieren.

Hauptsächlich ‘reinweiße’ Musiker sind als Musiker Teil einer ‘höheren Rassenhierarchie’. Diese ‘Rassenhierarchie’ wird sowohl von der Mainstreamgesellschaft als auch von Rechtsextremisten geschätzt. Allerdings geschieht dies in einem deutlicheren und auch offenerem Maße bei Rechtsextremisten.

Background: The composer Richard Wagner often expressed his distaste for “number” operas and other contrived forms used in the Italianate works of his forerunners and contemporaries. In place of these operatic conventions, Wagner drew upon the Tragedy of Ancient Greece to propose a “total artwork” (Gesamtkunstwerk)) with no contrived breaks for conventional form. Despite, or perhaps because of, his aversion toward operatic formal conventions, Wagner turned to one such form for his music for King Mark in Tristan und Isolde.

Taylor considers the role that book arts may play in Craig’s theories of the new theatre, or the Art of the Future. He expands our understanding of Craig’s design work to include print culture, examining his engravings for the monumental editions of Hamlet published by Count Harry Kessler’s Cranach Press in 1929–30. Taylor explores the relationship of Craig’s designs for the 1912 Moscow Art Theatre production of Hamlet to his engravings for the German and English-language Cranach Press editions of the play. Drawing on a little-known work by Scott-Moncrieff, this article investigates Luigi Pirandello’s intellectual and literary reach across genres and space, from theater to pamphlets, from Italy to the English-speaking world. A talented writer and translator, Charles K. Scott-Moncrieff published “The Strange & Striking Adventures of Four Authors in Search of a Character” by P. G. Lear & L. O in 1926. The title of the pamphlet, and the acronym of the fictional author are references to Pirandello and to his Six Characters in Search of an Author. This essay addresses how in the film Zeugin aus der Hölle, (1965, Witness out of hell) fictional sexualized violence against a female Jewish Holocaust survivor functions as a trope that exposes and rejects patriarchal and misogynist discourses of victimhood, perpetration, survivor shame, and guilt, which reviewers and scholars rightly have critiqued for such discourses’ re-victimizing and re-traumatizing effects upon victims. I argue that as a filmic trope sexualized violence served specific functions for its contemporaneous audience—Germans in the postwar 1960s. Beginning with the influences of Schiller's humanist ideals on Hessian Attorney General Fritz Bauer's expectations of the Frankfurt Auschwitz trial as legal working through of the past, this article compares the Holocaust narrative created by the West German criminal trial to Peter Weiss's reworking of the transcripts Die Ermittlung. Oratorium in 11 Gesangen. The article aims to show that literature is able to convey and commemorate aspects of the Holocaust that German criminal law misrepresents and omits.

Robert Schumann's Kreisleriana, Op. 16 (1838), borrows its title from E. T. A. Hoffmann's set of essays concerning his literary alter ego, Johannes Kreisler. The character of Kreisler is most prominently featured in two of Hoffmann's works: the Kreisleriana essays (1814-1815) and his final novel, The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr (1820-1822). This thesis explores the influence of E. T. A. Hoffmann on Schumann's Kreisleriana, focusing on how structural principles derived from Hoffmann's Kreisler works--duality, creating and blurring boundaries, fragmentation and irresolution, and circularity--are at work in Schumann's composition. The following paper examines Poe’s affair with German tradition, particularly Gothic and Romantic writing, through an analysis of his short story “Metzengerstein.” This short story is not only rich with the conventions of Gothic fiction, but also rings with an autobiographical tone. The added piece of Poe himself in this text implies his own Gothic origins. I imply that Poe was a natural Romantic, with the purpose of bringing his own terror to a larger audience. Stereotypes can be seen as a tool to understand why a person or group of people behave the way they do. These stereotypes adapt over time as culture and cultural perceptions change. The purpose of this research is to analyze what stereotypes Americans have held of Germans over the years, starting in 1940, a couple years before the United States entered World War II, then the Cold War Era between 1947 and 1990, through today. In certain Germanic languages, there is a group of verbs called preterite-present verbs that are often viewed as irregular, but in fact behave very predictably. They exhibit a morphological phenomenon called deponency, often in conjunction with another morphological phenomenon called heteroclisis. I examine the preterite-present verbs of three different languages: Old Norse, Modern Icelandic, and Modern German. Initially, I approach them from a historical perspective and then seek to reconcile their morphology with the modern perspective. A criteria is established for a canonical preterite-present verb, and then using a lexical programming language called DATR, I create code that generates the …
