Uber Hermann Stehrs Zeitgenossen wie fihomas Mann, Gerhardt Hauptmann, Ricarda Huch, Schnitzler und andre waren viele llterarische Werke geschrieben und niemand ist dabei mehr vernachlassigt worden als Hermann Stehr.

Ein kleines werk, "Mein Leben”, von Hermann Stehr wurde von Hellmuth Langenbucher erst kurzlich veroffentlicht; ein anderes Werk, "Hermann Stehr un sein Werk", wurde von Helmut Wocke geschrieben. Eine Sammlung von Augsatzen, betitelt "Hermann Stehr, sein Werk und seine Welt", wurde von Wilhelm Meridies, dem Schwiegersohn Stehrs herausgegeben. Diese Zusammenstellung wurde Hermann Stehr anlasslich seines 60. Geburtstages also ein Zeichen der Anerkennung und Dankberkeit uberreicht.

The novel to be considered in this thesis is representative of the revolutionary period of her writing, and has as its subject the woman artist and her struggle for individuality in the social order.
