Steven L. Brown has a B.A. in art from the Oklahoma College ofLiberal Arts (1973), a B.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the University of Oklahoma (1976), and an M.F.A. in printmaking from the University of Ohio (1978). In 1978- 79 he was an assistant professor of art at the Universidad de las Americas in Pueblo, Mexico. He is currently an instructor in printmaking, photography, and commercial art at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and the owner of a stained glass studio for custom-designed stained glass.

After painting over two-dozen large-scale oils in 1984-85, James Blake is now concentrating on his musical interests in an effort to explore the relationships among several of the fine arts. His group, the James Harlan Band, is currently in the studio working on its first album for Gr·ranite records in San Francisco. He plans to use his paintings and drawings for record covers; one of the drawings in the Drawing National is being used on the cover of the group's first single, ''Lawman.'' Natalie Alper was born in New York City. She has a B.A. from New York University, Washington Square College, and an M.A. in history from Boston University. She attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and also taught painting there. In 1984 she was a visiting lecturer in the department of visual and environmental smdies at Harvard University. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Artists Foundation.
