The Evolution Of Doris Lessing's Art From A Mystical Moment To Space Fiction, Nancy Topping Bazin

English Faculty Publications

After publishing ten major novels, Doris Lessing has begun writing what she calls '·space fiction'· for her new series entitled Canopus in Argos: Archives. In a review of the first two novels published in this series, namely, Shikasta ( 1979) and the Marriages Between Zones Three. Four, and Five (1980)1. Jean Pickering stresses that many of Doris Lessing's most avid readers were initially attracted to her because of her insights about the female experience and because of her allegiance to nineteenth-century realism." A Study Of The Relationship Between Leadership Responsibility And The Career Aspirations And Salience Of College Women, Deborah R. Stevenson Jan 1985

A Study Of The Relationship Between Leadership Responsibility And The Career Aspirations And Salience Of College Women, Deborah R. Stevenson

The literature discussing issues related to women and work indicates that leadership responsibility may play a role in raising both the career aspirations and salience of women. If this is so then providing appropriate leadership experience emerges as a potential tool for …

A Profile Of Anna Bon, 18th Century Venetian Composer, Kathleen Abromeit Jan 1985

A Profile Of Anna Bon, 18th Century Venetian Composer, Kathleen Abromeit

Lawrence University Honors Projects

During the 1700's, music was flourishing in Italy, and Italy was regarded as the country of true musicians. Italian musicians and composers were frequently imported by courts in other countries. One Venetian composer of the time, who was composing for royalty, was Anna Bon. There is very little known about her life beyond that which appears on the title pages of her published works. A modest amount of information on Bon appears in Eitner's Quellenlexikon (1898). Abromeit examines this scarce amount of information and prepares an analysis and realization of two of Bon's sonatas for flute and continuo, Opus 1, …

Women Homesteaders In Utah, 1869-1934, Jill Thorley Warnick

Theses and Dissertations

Much of Utah's history is the story of the relationship of humans and the land. Human perceptions of Utah's land have changed over time and affected the way it has been used. The homestead movement was an important phase in the use of Utah's land. Through federal settlement acts many Utahns obtained title to public land. This study is an attempt to learn more about the relationship between women and the land and about the lives of women in Utah.
The study is based on Utah land records from 1869-1934. Most homesteading activity in Utah took place during this period. …
