The annotated bibliography contains a list of young adult fiction books in which the characters and themes are based on a mother-daughter relationship. The researcher searched for types of mother-daughter relationships and a comprehensive listing of books available on the subject. The mother-daughter relationships covered are mother-biological daughter, mother-adopted or foster daughter, mother- stepdaughter and mother-abandoned daughter. The twenty-two books included in this study were published from 1975 through 1985 and were available in public or school libraries.

The Image Of The Senior Adult In Recommended Realistic Fiction For Young Adults, 1979-1986, Judith Younker Siler

This study, patterned after Carolyn Baggett's 1980 doctoral research at the University of Mississippi, was designed to determine if recommended realistic fiction published for young adults in the years 1979-1986 was significantly different (p = .05) than that published in the years 1960-1969 and 1970-1978, The "Chi-square Test with Probe" was used to test the frequencies of 40 characteristics. The categories contained three image statements which were used to record characterizations of older persons in the literature. One statement was a negative stereotype, one was a positive stereotype, and the third was realistic based on gerontological studies. Sixteen books to …
