Okay, so honestly, the fact that this movie was way hot almost outweighed its flaws. Almost...but not quite.

So let’s begin with Richard Gere. First of all, I thought his initial reaction was accurate. Well, not accurate, because I can’t really back that up...but handled in what seemed to be a realistic way. His relationship with Diane Lane was logical up to the point where you believed that she cheated because they were just so mismatched. An absorbed reader typically pays little conscious attention to the visual, tactile, and sometimes aural sensory experiences of reading. Unexpected formal and visual features of Laurence Sterne’s nine-volume fictional narrative, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, startle readers out of absorption and call attention to familiar operations like decoding black figures on white paper and turning pages. Research studies have shown that the sense of awe evoked by natural settings may be associated with transcendental thinking about God. Similarly, other researchers have suggested that people attribute events to God when they cannot develop a sufficient naturalistic explanation for a phenomenon. People appear to prefer attributing events to a benevolent God but will modify their beliefs to assume that God is punitive if event outcomes do not appear to favor their well-being or religious attributions do not accommodate a situation.
