Something I have noticed about Denison is that I am surrounded by people who care immensely about the world and about humanity. These people have encouraged and inspired me to educate myself, experience things for myself, and form opinions myself—all of which were new to me as a freshman. These experiences have led me to a very important understanding: we all have the capacity to contribute to the community, and we all have the responsibility to be informed and compassionate. Life is based on the relationships we build and the community we are a part of.

Students at Denison become competitive about the sacrifices they make for their studies. The harder students work, and the less they sleep, the more credit they get in the competition. The irony is that the person who wins ends up being the most exhausted and cannot pass his classes.
