Washington's purposes after 1945 were to establish and then maintain an international order in which American values and institutions could prosper. After graduating from Brigham Young University in 1926, Russel B. Swensen ( 1902-1987) taught seminary in Mesa, Arizona, and later in Kamas and Hurricane, Utah. In 1930, Joseph E Merrill, then LDS Church commissioner of education, invited Swensen, along with two others, to attend the University of Chicago Divinity School. There he received an M.A. and Ph.D. in New Testament Studies.

In 82 BCE, Lucius Cornelius Sulla emerged the victor of his civil war against the supporters of Marius and Cinna. The brutal aftermath of this victory, characterized by the creation of the proscriptions, would brand Sulla as a cruel and immoderate victor. Still, his successes in Rome’s previous wars against foreign enemies had enshrined Sulla as a brilliant military commander within Roman memory. Previous scholarship about Sulla has focused on the dichotomy of Sulla’s actions, often in order to evaluate his clemency or cruelty and his aims of his political reforms. This article recapitulates and develops the attempts in the Nietzschean traditions to address and overcome the proliferation of nihilism that Nietzsche predicted to unfold in the next 200 years (WP 2). Nietzsche approached nihilism not merely as a psychology but as a labyrinthic and pervasive historical process whereby the highest values of culture and founding assumptions of philosophical thought prevented the further flourishing of life. Therefore, he thought nihilism had to be encountered and experienced on many, often opposing, fronts to be fully consumed and left behind. While other books of the Mathematical Collection have been translated into English and short quotations from Book III have appeared in a number of places (see the Introduction), to my knowledge, no complete English translation of Book III has been published. Mid-level administrators occupy a complex position within higher education institutions, a role defined by “middleness” (Gleeson & Shain, 1999, p. 488), which characterizes their place in institutional hierarchies between superiors and subordinates. Mid-level administrators often feel isolated since they cannot be seen as having close personal relationships with those above or below them in the rankings. State charter school policy is influenced through a collaboration between advocacy groups and state legislators. Charter school advocacy groups have an inherent bias toward deregulation and autonomy. Two advocacy groups, the Center for Education Reform (CER) and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools (NAPCS), each conduct annual analyses on state charter school laws using their own model charter law as the comparator. Each group has developed a rubric of indicators with sub-scores which combine to form an overall state score. Higher scores indicate a closer adherence to the advocacy group’s model charter law. An approach to identify and validate hidden quality costs associated with regulatory non-compliance from inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not been previously researched. This dissertation presents a robust quantitative methodology to analyze the daily cumulative abnormal returns (CAR) on populations of publicly traded mid-to-large cap companies around FDA inspection events having negative outcomes. Three hypotheses have been tested focusing only on inspection events from companies falling under the biologics product type category. Since 2015, the Trasimeno Regional Archaeological Project (TRAP) has been conducting research in the territory of Castiglione del Lago (PG). Born from the collaboration between Italian and American researchers, together with the Municipality of Castiglione del Lago, the project intends to bring to light the archaeological heritage of the area, in particular from the Roman era, and make it accessible to the public. John Milton’s 1637 poem “Lycidas” is a pastoral elegy told from the point of view of a shepherd grieving the loss of his friend, Lycidas. Written in honor of Milton’s late classmate, Edward King, “Lycidas” is a Christian allegory. This essay situates “Lycidas” within the history and characteristics of the pastoral elegy before analyzing how the poem at once inhabits and progressively deviates from the traditional form. Milton combines the traditional pastoral form with Elizabethan ideals and imagery to affirm his own religious, political, and existential views about death and the afterlife. This paper covers three datasets containing texts in Ancient Greek, manually aligned at word level against translations in English (Grc-Eng), Portuguese (Grc-Por) and Latin (Grc-Lat). The datasets were collected by two domain experts through annotation on the Ugarit Translation Alignment Editor (https://ugarit.ialigner.com/). The quality of each dataset was measured through Inter-Annotator-Agreement (IAA) above 80%. Each dataset contains the aligned pairs and an Annotation Style Guide, and serves as a Gold Standard for translation alignment of Ancient Greek, for the evaluation of automatic translation alignment models, and as high-quality training data. “Neither Orthodox Nor Enlightened:” Dorothy Sayers And Classical Education In America, Jessica Richardi

In 1947, accomplished author and intellectual Dorothy Leigh Sayers shared her unorthodox views on education with an audience at Oxford University. The concerns she expressed about the failings of modern schooling and her proposed remedy would catalyze the “classical education” movement in the United States decades later, a movement characterized by adherence to the medieval trivium as both a tool of learning and a model for child development. The transmission of Sayers’s ideas to America, variations in the classical learning movement, and Sayers’ continued influence are discussed.

Malthi In Media: Peopling An Ancient Village In Virtual Space, Rebecca Worsham

Digital applications have increased the possibilities for the visualization of archaeological material. This paper presents two reconstructions of the Bronze Age settlement Malthi, created using Minecraft and Twine, both readily accessible programs. These recreations draw on data from archaeological work at the site and are intended to depict alternative interpretations of the settlement, allowing for the uncertainty inherent in archaeology. They are likewise intended to invite interaction with the site beyond physically visiting, with the goal of increasing participation in the formation of knowledge about Malthi. The approach advocated here is applicable to other projects struggling with ambiguous data.
