The Effectiveness Of Concurrent Design On The Cost And Schedule Performance Of Defense Weapons System Acquisitions, Randolph B. Robertson Dec 2017

The Effectiveness Of Concurrent Design On The Cost And Schedule Performance Of Defense Weapons System Acquisitions, Randolph B. Robertson

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study investigates the impact of concurrent design on the cost growth and schedule growth of US Department of Defense Major Defense Acquisition Systems (MDAPs). It is motivated by the question of whether employment of concurrent design in the development of a major weapon system will produce better results in terms of cost and schedule than traditional serial development methods. Selected Acquisition Reports were used to determine the cost and schedule growth of MDAPs as well as the degree of concurrency employed. Two simple linear regression analyses were used to determine the degree to which cost growth and schedule growth …

Never Forgets: Traumatic Trace Within Public Space, Jan Descartes Sep 2017

Never Forgets: Traumatic Trace Within Public Space, Jan Descartes

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

This paper will interrogate the ways in which ephemera from events affects the human and non- human environment and how the absence, manipulation or presence of traumatic trace weaves itself into the atmosphere of the past, present and future. It will look at space and the ways that trace manifests itself in hierarchal spaces and Lebbeus Woods’ concept of heterarchial spaces, which are organic and/or horizontally organized. A thread throughout is the question that if trace from trauma can exist in the visual field, i.e. the physical or digital landscape, in a way that maintains a discourse without perpetuating oppression. …

Material Poetics, Ellen G. Reid

Masters Theses, 2010-2019

quench: /kwen(t)SH/

a : put out, extinguish

b : to put out the light or fire

c : to cool suddenly by immersion

d : to cause to lose heat or warmth

e : to bring to an end typically by satisfying, damping, cooling, or

decreasing

f : to relieve or satisfy with liquid

This is often how projects begin, a haunting idea, word, or experience inundates my consciousness and sub-consciousness. How could the body directly relate to an experience of quenching? This provoked the idea of the extreme sport: freediving. To adequately depict the definition of quenching, any …

Theses and Dissertations

I have created several micro-businesses that provide tools and facilitate experiences to help people meet their potential. The form of the businesses has ranged from a street based art gallery inside the drawers of a modern dresser to a business that sews more and bigger pockets into women’s outerwear.

Research And Study Of Fashion And Costume History Spanning From Ancient Egypt To Modern Day, Kaitlyn E. Dennis Miss

Posters-at-the-Capitol

Through a generous donation to Morehead State University, research has been conducted on thousands of slides containing images of artwork and artifacts of historical significance. These images span from Egyptian hieroglyphs to the inaugural dress of every first lady of the United States. The slides are in the process of being recorded and catalogued for future use by students in hopes of furthering academic comprehension and awareness of the influence of fashion and costume history through the ages. Special thanks to the family of Gretel Geist Rutledge, faculty mentor Denise Watkins, as well as the Department of Music, Theatre, and …

CGU MFA Theses

My work explores the nature of interiority and exteriority, the relationship between the centered inner self and the peripheral, the physicality of occupying the inside of a space or viewing that space from the outside.

Anti-Aestheticizing Australian Landscape: Compounding Historical Narratives Within Pictures., Brent Greene Feb 2016

Anti-Aestheticizing Australian Landscape: Compounding Historical Narratives Within Pictures., Brent Greene

Landscapes: the Journal of the International Centre for Landscape and Language

The following creative works aspire to construct landscapes that carry multiple, rather than singular, narratives as a means to explore Australia’s extensive landscape tradition. With the benefit of hindsight, the appropriated imagery of Glover and Heysen combine hybrid frameworks of Australian landscape at the time of colonisation and federation; through these pictures neither the colonial or Indigenous narrative is given precedent, alternatively numerous stories are overlayed as a method to communicate past and present entanglements within Australian space.
