Literary supplement of the College Heights Herald published each semester. It began as a class project for a Problems in Journalism class and was first published in January of 1969. The name is a French term meaning spirit. The goal of L’esprit is to provide, in as proper of a literary style as possible, an outlet for original poems, short stories, pictures and art work by students and faculty at Western Kentucky University

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

Research has proven that the impact of two-dimensional painting and drawing occurs in the first tenth of a second on viewing. All viewing thereafter is investigative. Therefore it is of utmost important that the major response be in this period. This interest in the firm, momentary presence of visual impact has precedence in Milton Avery's work as related by Hilton Kramer in his text on Milton Avery. The Face As An Inspiration In Drawing, Linda Lee Stevens

My primary concern in drawing is the human element. The face has been the inspiration which enabled me to convey this element. These faces (contrived from photographic media) became individuals with the ability to transmit emotions (which are triggered by their human forces). This power of the face has inspired the utilization of spatial relationships and imagery which becomes the total drawing. The magical quality in drawing is similar to the mystical quality of the face - they both provide a spiritual challenge.
