The barong tagalong, also known as the barong Filipino or simply the barong, is the national men's shirt of the Philippines. It is a long-sleeved, collared shirt, buttoning halfway down the front. Traditionally, the barong is made of white, transparent cloth with embroidery around the buttons. The shirt is usually woven out of pina fiber, which is harvested from the leaves of the pineapple plant.

The faja is a compression undergarment, similar to a girdle. The faja is worn very tight on the body to create an extremely curvy hourglass figure. The undergarment shifts organs and flesh and has been said to reduce one's appetite. The degree of figure shaping and body compression depends on the fabric composition. Versions can be found in mixtures of spandex, cotton, nylon, or latex; the less forgiving the material, the more flattering the effect. The undergarment may be closed with hooks, a zipper, or both.

The Clowes Collection of Old Master Paintings housed at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) includes seventy-eight works by Flemish, Spanish, English, Dutch, and Italian masters, comprising some of the museum’s most important artworks. The IMA has recently embarked on an interdepartmental project to create a new digital catalog that will highlight the history of each piece. What makes this publication unique is an emphasis on the conservation history as documented in thousands of images, including X-ray, infrared, and UV photographs. Case study is a comprehensive research strategy for investigating an empirical topic by following a set of pre-specified procedures (Yin, 1994). The case study method is different from research methods such as experiments and surveys where statistical generalization is used to extend the results to a larger population. In the case study method, analytic generalization is used to generalize from the case study to theoretical propositions. The conservation field has articulated the importance of publishing our research to disseminate information and further the aims of conservation. Article X of AIC’s Code of Ethics states that conservators should “contribute to the evolution and growth of the profession, a field of study that encompasses the liberal arts and the natural sciences” in part by “sharing of information and experience with colleagues, adding to the profession’s written body of knowledge.” Our Guidelines for Practice state “the conservation professional should recognize the importance of published information that has undergone formal peer review,” because, as Commentary 2.1 indicates, “publication in peer-reviewed …

This presentation discusses research being conducted at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery as part of the InterPARES 3 Project, which is developing a documentation framework to support the preservation of digital and new media art. The framework includes the use of a questionnaire for artists; a checklist of records that should be created and/or acquired by the Gallery; a file structure that allows the Gallery to maintain its documents and records according to records and archival management best practices; and an analysis of copyright and moral rights issues.

Narrative Convergence, Cross-Sited Productions And The Archival Dilemma, Marc Ruppel

This article addresses the speculative role of digital preservation from the standpoint of convergent literatures. `Cross-sited narratives', multimodal stories told across media channels, are introduced here as a specific mode of narrative instrumentality. It is argued that contemporary models of the archive structured on organizational models such as genetic criticism and on preservational models such as emulation and migration are not equipped to handle cross-sited works, as they are premised on mono-media sensibilities. Primarily exploring Mark Danielewski's House of Leaves (2000) and Neil Young's Greendale (2003), two works that resist digitization both materially and thematically, the claim is made that …

Using some of the concepts from Heidegger's 'The origin of a work of art'
as a foundation, I will argue that every work is a unique and original entity, not
capable of being simulated or repeated by artificial means. A work is bound by the
temporal nature of its own material, as in all forms of matter. The product of
restoration work is ultimately a copy of the original, destroying a work's original
