Mind The Gap: An Exploration Into The Accessibility, Ease Of Use, And Design Of Public Transport Wayfinding, Jack Nierenberg
Mind The Gap: An Exploration Into The Accessibility, Ease Of Use, And Design Of Public Transport Wayfinding, Jack Nierenberg
Honors College Theses
Wayfinding, an essential aspect of public transport, is not always accessible, user-friendly, or well-designed. Because of this, people with disabilities, language barriers, or other difficulties understanding information or navigating public transport are put at a disadvantage. This thesis explores prior research and projects, as well as in-depth case studies of three cities' public transport systems, to identify best practices and guiding principles for enhancing accessibility, ease of use, and design. These principles can be incorporated into a unifying standard to improve public transport wayfinding and bridge gaps in existing systems.
Blockchain Transparency In Reducing Second-Hand Luxury Shopping Uncertainty And The Role Of Price Consciousness, Song‑Yi Youn, Joohye Hwang, Naan Ju
Blockchain Transparency In Reducing Second-Hand Luxury Shopping Uncertainty And The Role Of Price Consciousness, Song‑Yi Youn, Joohye Hwang, Naan Ju
School of Business Faculty Papers
This study explores consumer behavior and decision-making in the context of blockchain technology (BT) adoption within the second-hand luxury market. Specifically, it investigates how BT can reduce uncertainty and enhance transparency in second-hand luxury transactions based on a mental accounting theory approach. A partial least squares structural equation modeling analysis (N = 511) was conducted, focusing on consumers’ perceived quality of traceable information obtained through BT (i.e., product diagnosticity, informativeness, and trustworthiness) and their perceived risks in second-hand luxury online shopping (i.e., financial risk, social risk, time risk, contamination risk, performance risk). The findings confirm that the perceived quality of …

The fashion department of O’More College of Architecture and Design at Belmont University partnered with Saddle Up! to create meaningful connections for the students enrolled in both programs. Saddle Up! provides opportunities for youth with disabilities to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational, and recreational experiences with horses. These equestrian students were paired with O’More fashion students to design and produce a customized riding uniform. The opportunity provided an experience for the fashion student to create adaptive garments for someone with special needs.
The design process merged traditional methods of flat pattern drafting and draping together with advanced digital technologies. …

The internet is the most perfect incarnation of a process that has repeated across centuries and networks. In the mind, we call it psychosis, in society, we call it religion, and on the internet, it is becoming the singularity. My comic, ELDERNET,
is a cyberweird analysis and critique of the internet as the collective locus of the unconscious. Drawing inspiration from media from French post-structuralist philosophy to 1920s Weird Fiction, I reveal the representations of horror within the automatic network.

Sfa Art Day: Button Design And Lesson Execution, Mia Thornton
Undergraduate Research Conference
For my research project, I designed a logo for the Art Education program. Then, on the November 8th Art Day I assisted Professor Denise Davis in presenting a multi-media lesson. This lesson included forms of book-making and button creation. The high school participants were given two options, cutting out one of the premade circle logos I designed or creating a unique design for their buttons. This project required me to learn new computer programs and interact with a student population that was unfamiliar to me.

Undergraduate Research Symposium
Pint-Sized Advisories is a game inspired by Nintendo's WarioWare series made for the ODU Serious Games Jam of Spring 2025, where it won 2nd place out of 11 entries overall, winning first in the "Fun Factor" category, while tying for first in "Rhetoric" and "Theme". The game covers themes of environmental friendliness on an individual level: within the story, an organization is making "micro-PSAs" to hold the attention spans of teenagers. The player is required to complete each PSA (some task) before the viewer swipes away. These PSAs start short and only get shorter as the game progresses, requiring the …

"Balthazar, The Good Dragon", Jennifer Trahant
Liberty University Research Week
Dragons have long been portrayed as symbols of greed and destruction in mythology and literature, reinforcing the idea that they represent evil. However, this sculpture challenges that perception by drawing inspiration from children's literature such as Wings of Fire, The Fire Within, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Eragon, How to Train Your Dragon, and Pete’s Dragon. In these stories, dragons are often misunderstood, and feared due to human prejudice rather than their true nature.

A Biblical worldview recognizes the beauty in aging, viewing it not as a decline but as a testament to wisdom, resilience, and God’s faithfulness. Scripture affirms this perspective, as seen in Proverbs 16:31, “Gray hair is a crown of glory,†and Job 12:12, “Wisdom is with the aged.†Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that “He has made everything beautiful in its time,†affirming that aging is part of God’s design. While physical beauty fades, the Lord confirms that time can emphasize the inner self's renewal. By honoring the marks of age, we embrace a perspective that values the depth, grace, and …

There is a disparity of genuine communication between women and healthcare professionals. Although modern society claims equal access and opportunity for all genders, there is a large portion of women who continue to go unheard. Most healthcare professionals are not actively seeking sexist options when treating patients, yet many women are still being treated differently or not at all. Changing the current status quo begins with acknowledging the current situation women all around the world are experiencing. The Communication Objective is to display the struggle within the affected group. There is an outcry from women, observable across countries, to be …

Feathertop Character Design, Ariana Murphy
Feathertop Character Design, Ariana Murphy
Liberty University Research Week
Feathertop, a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, suffers from a marked lack of high-quality illustrations to bring the story to life and public awareness. Despite having a strong mood and atmosphere, intriguing characters, and thought-provoking themes, it is a little-known story with much creative potential from a written and visual standpoint. The goal of this research project is to utilize the author’s rich descriptions of the main character, Feathertop, to create a memorable and endearing design which will serve as a launching off point for further illustrative development of the story.
