In October 2018, AmaTerra Environmental conducted an archeological survey of drainage detention ponds associated with the proposed expansion of FM 1960 from Wilson Drive to Astascosita Shores Drive in Harris County, Texas. The project was conducted in behalf of TxDOT under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 8952. Fieldwork entailed visual inspection and shovel testing at four of five detention pond locations. Two additional detention ponds were assessed through archival research and visual inspection and found to have no potential for archeological resources. AmaTerra excavated 28 shovel tests–none of which contained cultural materials. No archeological sites were documented and this report recommends …

On October 22, 2018, aci consulting conducted a cultural resources survey for the Legacy Force Main North, in Denton County, Texas. The Area of Potential Effect (APE) for this project consists of the 50-foot corridor for the proposed force main, incorporating two proposed alignments, totaling 1.63-miles (2.62-kilometers), and a total area of 11.39 acres (4.61 hectares) (Figures 1 and 2).

This work was conducted in compliance with the Texas Administrative Code (13 TAC 26.20[2]) under Texas Antiquities Code permit number 8564, as well as Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended. The survey did not …

On March 18-20, 2019, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) carried out an intensive survey, as described in 13 TAC 26.20 and defined in 13 TAC 26.5. Joel B. Butler acted as the principal investigator, Sara Parkin as field director, and Jessica Kenmore as field technician. 48 person-hours were expended during fieldwork, 17 shovel tests, and 10 backhoe trenches were excavated in support of the survey.

Between December 18 and 21, 2018, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of the proposed FM 2493 roadway improvements from U.S. Highway 69 to Farm-to-Market 346 in Smith and Cherokee Counties, Texas. The project is identified under Texas Department of Transportation control-section-job numbers 0191- 03-083, 0191-04-008, and 0191-02-066. The work associated with this archeological survey was carried out under Texas Antiquities Permit 8567 by Brett Lang (Project Archeologist) and Floyd Kent of Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc., a subcontractor to RPS Group.

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is proposing to construct the Lower Bois d’Arc Creek Reservoir in northeast Fannin County, Texas. Due to the proposed inundation, nine bridge/culvert locations will be inundated, and new bridges/culverts will be constructed. White Hawk, which is handling the engineering for the project, contracted with AR Consultants, Inc. to evaluate the proposed bridge locations to determine if significant cultural resources are within the study areas. On July 3 and 5, 2019, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to evaluate potential impacts associated with the proposed construction of a residential subdivision in the Town of Providence Village in east-central Denton County, Texas. A total of 162.64 acres (65.81 hectares) were examined with 65.39 acres (26.46 hectares) intensively shovel tested. The project would be situated between Farm-to-Market Road 2931 and Pecan Creek at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 2931 and Brewer Road with private properties as the north and south boundaries.

Liberty Multifamily, LLC contracted with AR Consultants, Inc. to conduct an intensive cultural resources survey of the 12 acres slated for development. This project studies the use of mental hygiene films in the 1950s to understand the American ideal of gender, sex roles, and mental health. Focusing specifically on masculinity, this project shows that psychologists and psychiatrists of the mid-twentieth century helped to define what it meant to be a real man in America. Sources for this research included mental hygiene films, psychological studies and articles from the 1950s, and news broadcasts. On November 10, 1898 the city of Wilmington erupted in racial violence as the members of the white population massacred anywhere from twenty-five to a hundred of the black citizenry.
