The high apostle of the adventure tale in the Strenuous Age, Jack London has never really relinquished the popularity which made him before his death one of the best known and, most widely read writers in the world. It is true that more than one pontiff of literary taste has consigned him to the same, "obsolete" file that contains the remains of Richard Harding Davis, David Graham Phillips, William Sidney Porter, but such reports of London's demise have undoubtedly been premature. Statistics show that relatively few Mexican-Americans have become acculturated and assimilated into Anglo-American society (See page 9). The web of Mexican-American life is complex in its origins, its manifestations, and its degree of identification with or alienation from the dominant culture. A thesis of the length of this one can deal with all this complexity only in a superficial way. However, by a rather narrowly defined examination of a few children certain insights may be gained which could be used as a basis for generalization about other children of similar background, and perhaps even for some tentative generalizations about the problems of the Mexican-American community as a whole.

Zen Buddhism has followed an extremely tortuous route, both geographically and philosophically, in its development from its Buddhist roots in India, centuries before the birth of Christ, to its present internationally important state of development in the world today. Buddhism, containing the embryo of the yet unborn sect of Zen, moved from India to China during the Sixth Century A. D. Zen came into its om as a Buddhist sect during the renaissance Chinese culture in the 7'ang Dynasty (approximately Seventh through Ninth Centuries, A. D.). With the advent of Moroccan Independence in 1956, Moroccan manners and customs entered a state of flux--combining the old traditions with new and modern ways of living.
