This essay analyzes the engagement of Arab feminist activisms online, most notably during the citizen revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, and, specifically, women’s use of online social networking to aid social change. Building on research examining how Arab activists and activist organizations, including feminist organizations, mobilize, produce knowledge, and develop and share resources online and, in particular, drawing from research on Arab activisms and social media this study aims to understand how online activist discourses function, both locally and globally. Educational demographics of an Austrian diocese in Styria were examined between the years of 1848 and 1852, to show both the importance of the data and the possibility for further research. The data was examined in conjunction with the imperial education law that directed the Austrian educational system in the nineteenth century. Both the micro and macro elements of the paper were influenced by the strong Austrian Catholic tradition and were integrated heavily into the paper to help put the data in perspective. There have been many sources written on western mining concerning race and the environment, but many of those have focused on the negative consequences mining has had on the environment and the racial violence perpetuated against minorities in those mining towns, particularly the Chinese. There is a need to show a more positive focus on the histories of mining towns, like Warren, that can provide good examples of both responsible environmental stewardship and successful racial integration. The library has changed according to the needs of the community as it has adapted from its pioneer heritage to a modern service information organization. Motivated by the need to be heard and to express a Madagascan cry suffocated by colonial and postcolonial history, the work of writer J.-L. Raharimanana fi ts remarkably well in the francophone literary landscape. It is characterised by writing in constant oxymoronic tension between violence and poetry. Once associated with humour and poetry, violence, portrayed as a residual component of colonial times, becomes energy to be recycled. This innovative force is at the origin of the author’s verbal and generic creativity. This article examines the polysemy of the word harem in several of Fatima Mernissi’s texts. Moreover, it considers the role of orality in the form of “oral archives” that were nurtured, maintained and passed on from mother to daughter. The related issue of Mernissi’s feminist activism is also analyzed. Women in Mernissi’s harem constructed complex narratives and “stories” that incorporated many fragments of “professional” or “national” histories, including the “official” history of Morocco’s attainment of independence in 1956. Accounts of femininist movements in the Middle East and Morocco, including the al-Safaa Akhwat or Sisters of Purity (1946) and the group’s …
