Today, we are constantly using data; some even say that we live in an Age of Data. Most of us hardly realize that a Danish astronomer set the whole process in motion more than four hundred years ago. Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) changed the world with his innovative approach to astronomy and observational data. My interest in him started with a college term paper and eventually led to writing and editing books and articles about his life and work in Renaissance Denmark. Parakan that has been known as a city of "Kaum" since the pre-colonial era has been designated as a heritage city since 2015 as a part of heritage city of Temang-gung, Central Java, Indonesia. The history of Parakan itself has been formed in the different version, referring to some sources either from literature as well as from direct sources (observation and interviews). While the grammatical-historical method of interpretation, which focuses on the languages of the biblical text and its historical backgrounds to arrive at meaning, has long been the interpretive procedure of choice in many faith communities, modern methods of biblical study have tended to move away from text-historical, to text-exclusive or more reader-centered hermeneutics. Unfortunately, this trend has either basically removed history from the interpretive arena or left the field open to simplistic and sensationalistic historical explanations. Mad: Conservative Mothers And The Political Transformation Of The 1970s In Detroit, Michigan, William A. Taylor

In 1972, a group of thirteen white mothers founded an educational research organization that would become the Mothers Alert Detroit (MAD). Although primarily known for its role in Detroit's anti-busing movement, MAD was involved in a series of local disputes in the Detroit Public Schools. Through its tenure in the 1970s, MAD opposed efforts to desegregate the public schools, implement sex education courses, reform school textbooks, and increase the mill levy to fund the school system.

I argue that the local political activism of MAD was informed by a conservative gender ideology. Mothers comprised the organization’s leadership and rank-and-file. These …

They might expect a dramatic tale of barbarians rushing naked against Roman shields with faces painted blue, blonde mustaches adorning their faces, their hair like horses’ manes flowing in the wind. Our Roman would probably believe Gallic society to be even more mysterious than their battle tactics; after all, they counsel with druids, they count by nights, and they believe in a never-ending cycle of life and death.
